Making Music with Books!

I can not thank you enough for the support that you have shown my students and I.
When I first received the books our district was teaching virtually only. I was however able to use one of the books with my Kindergarten classes by using a docucamera. The students were able to see the pictures and read along side with me. Online teaching has many challenges but being able to share literacy with the students with the docucamera has been wonderful.
This year we are back in the classroom and I plan to utilize the books with music instruction. I look forward to a rewarding year of the multidisciplinary approach of literacy and music with the students.”

I would like to incorporate books into my music lessons to help support reading strategies that the classroom teacher is utilizing with the students. Books bring the world of endless possibilities to students. I will use the books to foster students' creativity. Books can lay the foundation for the students to come up with their own way of using musical expression. Students can use rhythm, harmony, expressive qualities, and movement to enhance and interpret a different way of interacting with a story. By working with the book in a musical sense, the students reading and comprehension skills will be strengthened.
