  • Steam & Abc Preschool Projects

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

This thank you note is slow in getting to you, my apologies on that. I wanted to wait so I could share the impact the materials have made over the past couple of months. I could not be more thankful for your generous contributions and my students appreciate the gifts as well. When the boxes arrived with all of the new learning materials my students were overwhelmed with excitement. We opened each box as a group and talked about every item inside and how we could use them in our classroom and learn with them.

My personal favorite item was the Alphabet tubs because I have used them each week during our circle time to promote alphabet knowledge and the kids love this activity and their letter skills are progressing greatly this year!

The majority of the materials have been a fabulous addition to our indoor recess time during cold and rainy days. The students have so much fun with the pipe building, letter and number toss games, ball catching games and all of the other materials. They do not realize that while they are playing and having fun they are strengthening motor skills and learning more about letters and numbers. We share the materials with the other preschool classroom in our building so double the number of students are benefitting from this awesome Donors Choose project.

    We appreciate you so much!!!”

    Ms. Scheper

  • Fine Tuning Preschool Fine Motor Skills

    Funded Aug 14, 2021

I cannot even describe to you the sheer joy our students had when they saw all of the new materials for our classroom. This Donors Choose project was jam-packed full of phenomenal fine motor activities of all sorts. We have introduced the new activities a few at a time over the last few months to spread out the excitement. Every time we get a new item out of storage the kids get excited all over again.

These new activities are just perfect for strengthening their fine motor skills and to them it's just play and not work. They don't even know that I'm working behind the scenes with these activities to help them be stronger writers and problem solvers with fine motor skills.

This year we opened a second preschool classroom in our building and switched from being half day to full day, so it was a perfect time to receive this generous donations of new materials. We strive to keep things fresh and rotate materials in our learning centers on a regular basis, so all of the new items really help us to keep new and exciting things out for the students to learn with.”

  • Teaching Preschool in 2020

    Funded Oct 22, 2020

I truly cannot thank you enough for your generous donation to our class Donor's Choose project. The project included a variety of materials to increase awareness, spread kindness, promote independence and give children a real and figurative mirror to see themselves through.

The new mirror is such a great addition to our classroom. I often find children looking at themselves and friends and sometimes even having conversations, acting out or singing songs. I love that they can see themselves and their beauty in the mirror, but also that they are seeing themselves in the many diverse characters in the new books the project added to our classroom library. The collection of books I selected includes books that promote kindness, problem solving and friendship while featuring children and families from many different backgrounds and communities

The Dressing Frames have been an essential tool in our classroom for helping our young learners practice independently buttoning, snapping, zipping and more! The international foods and Mix and Match Magnetic Families set are very popular learning materials in the classroom, and the paper people collage kit is going to be used this spring when we focus our learning on our "Growing Up Healthy" unit in class. All of the materials in this project have enhanced our learning enviroment and will help us nurture kind, independent, creative students.

I apolotize that this thank you letter is so late in getting to you. I had trouble finding adequate words to tell you how much your donations meant to me and our students and I wanted to see the materials in action to let you know how much they are loved and valued. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

  • Preschool Learning Through Play

    Funded Dec 4, 2019

The materials from this Donor's Choose project have had a wonderful impact on my classroom and everyday learning! The kids were ecstatic when we opened the packages. The barn and dollhouse have promoted so much communication and social interaction amongst even the shyest of my students.

The Light Panel was a BIG hit! We have used it as an xray center for our pretend Doctor's Office and Vet's Office and we have used it in our Science Center to look at the nature slides purchased with your generous donations.

The Light Panel and accessories have also been a great tool for teaching early literacy and early math skills. We have practiced naming letters, naming numbers, counting and sorting with the Light Panel and the kids are so engaged when we use it as a learning tool.

I can't thank you enough for your donation, you have made my classroom a better place! Your support of early childhood education means the world to me and my students.”

  • For the Love of Literacy & Language in Preschool

    Funded Apr 11, 2019

I am blown away by your kindness and generosity during my Love of Literature project. Thanks to your donations our classroom library is busting at the seams with new books that include both classics that I grew up with and new titles that are set to become classics. It is my opinion that a classroom can never have too may books, and now I have books for every occasion, every area of interest, every learning theme in the classroom and books to pique the interests of all of the children.

We did not just get books, we also received countless activities that will encourage a love of literacy and help the children with their alphabet knowledge and pre-reading and language skills. The alphabet soup resource was fun for the students to play with and while they fished letters out of the bowl with a spoon I was able to assess what letters they did and did not know while helping them name the letter and the sound it makes. These activities are helping me make learning FUN! They used wiki sticks and letter blocks to create letters of the alphabet, practiced writing letters with magnet boards and acted out Pete the Cat books with their new felt board.

It was like Christmas when the packages arrived and in no time at all the children were utilizing the new activities to brush up on their ABC's and cuddling up with good books in our library area of the classroom. These materials and books are wonderful and will continue to benefit our classroom for years to come. Thank for helping me promote language and literacy in my classroom!”

  • Art & Architecture in the Preschool Classroom

    Funded Apr 4, 2019

The materials you helped to purchase for my "Art & Architecture" project have been a fantastic addition to our preschool classroom. The materials were not just beneficial for this one group of students and this one school year...they will continue to benefit our classroom and students for years to come!

The students were over the moon excited when the packages arrived in our classroom and many of the materials were immediately put to use. This year I had a group of kids that was very much interested in activities involving art and building things! They used the Panda bamboo blocks and castle blocks to create some seriously cool buildings and cities. And the art materials were used to create some fantastic 3D art work in the classroom. They also built some intense ramp systems on our magnet board with the ramp set.

This all sounds like fun and games right? It was! BUT while they were busy "playing" they were also learning and building important life skills. We talked about measurements, shapes, quantity and more while they built their cities and castles. They learned so much about social skills while they worked because they had to be patient and wait for their turn to play with the popular new toys, and they had to work cooperatively with their peers to build and create. These are valuable life skills that will help them all through school. And the art supplies encouraged them to be creative and think outside the box. Creative thinking will take them a long way in the years to come. So while they play with their new activities in school I am working alongside of them teaching valuable skills and lessons. And I could not be doing this without your generous donations. Thank you so much!”

  • Welcoming Diversity and All Cultures in the Preschool Classroom

    Funded Aug 10, 2018

On behalf of my students I thank you from the bottom of my heart. The materials purchased with your generous donation arrived just in time for the start of the school year. This meant that my classroom was all ready for my little learners on day one!

The puzzles, books, dolls, play people and dress ups are used every single day in our classroom and they have encouraged creativity, empathy, and imagination. The children use the multicultural play people in our class dollhouse and act out family life and it strengthens their communication and social skills. The puzzles not only depict diversity and families, but they also help the children develop their fine motor skills. And each day in our dramatic play area the children use the multi-cultural baby dolls, dress ups and mini wheel chair to act out daily life with family and friends. I love seeing the imaginative stories unfold!

One of my favorite items in the set was the multicultural paper people. Each child took one of these "paper dolls" home to create a person like themselves. Each paper person was unique and represented the child that made it. The kids were so proud of these and we hung them in the hallway for the whole school to see and to celebrate diversity.

Thank you so very much for making such a wonderful impact on my preschool classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Scheper

The materials I am requesting for my classroom will be used on a daily basis throughout many learning areas in the classroom. I want to infuse more diversity and multicultural materials into their hands on learning through play. The materials I am asking for are essential for having a welcoming, diverse, multicultural learning environment for young children. All of the items I selected are needed in my classroom, but the block play people, differing abilities materials such as puzzles and books, are especially important because the children can use them to learn social skills and build language during cooperative play and the people represent many different cultures, abilities and vocations in the community. The washable dolls and multicultural dress up clothes are perfect for pretend play. The Families Poster Pack will adorn the walls so the children can see that families come in all shapes, sizes and colors. The All Kinds of Families puzzle set will be a great way for children to learn how all sorts of people make up a family while working on their fine motor skills putting the puzzles together. I want the children to be able to be surrounded by diversity in all of their activities.
