Brain Power with Book!
Funded Sep 2, 2023That Was Then This Is Now by Hinton
This novel is a classic and the issues presented are as true today as they were then. The challenges that youngsters face within themselves and in relationships are introduced by this book. Life lessons are considered and discussed during reading. Some skills developed by reading a novel in my classroom are critical thinking, comprehension and understanding, and learning broader vocabulary. We read the novel together as a class. Class discussions have broadened minds and given some students who don't read on their own, a joy of reading.”

Expand the Brain Though Reading
Funded Sep 2, 2023The Prince and the Pauper by Mark Twain is a timeless book. It addresses the age-old differences between rich and poor, and stepping into the shoes of another (empathy). Some skills developed by reading a novel in my classroom are critical thinking, comprehension and understanding, and learning broader vocabulary. I hope that with this book and reading it together as a class the the students, class discussions will broaden minds and give some students who don't read on their own, a glimpse into the joy of reading.”

Dictionaries for Deserving Students
Funded Jan 1, 2023Our English classes use dictionaries more than any other books in my classroom. Not only do we do vocabulary lookups and quizzes each week, but we use them for words that the students stumble over when reading. Sometimes we do vocabulary speed contests, too. Before we received these, the others were almost beyond use, well-worn by so much use. Having these new dictionaries has given the students a much better ability to get their tasks done. They don't have to worry about the covers falling off, or the bind falling apart. We can't thank you enough for giving this precious gift to the students.”

Mythbusters Madness
Funded Jan 10, 2023With your help, I have been able to provide content that is relevant and engaging to my students. At the end of the year, it is always hard to keep them engaged and focused as we prepare for state testing. Because of you, they look forward to our Mythbuster Friday movie day. By working hard all week, getting everything done, and really buckling down, they get rewarded with Mythbusters and a worksheet.
I love it because while they think it is fun and "not school work", I know that the learning never stops. You helped me with that!”

Learn Personal Finance With Games
Funded Aug 19, 2022With your help, my students are now able to learn in a fun way. The games that you helped purchase are something that they look forward to "playing" with when able to. The looks on their faces are priceless. To see them use the strategies that we talked about about discussed in class with out them realizing it until we have out recap of what we did at the end of class is, as a teacher, I never get tired of.
Because of you and your gift they have the ability to do so much more and the tools that will get them further in life.
Thank you for your Gift!”

Funded Aug 19, 2022You have made a bigger impact than you know. By donating to this project you allowed me to further my knowledge. As a teacher, I can understand how this may sound odd, but as a teacher, you have to stay one step ahead of what you are teaching, and trying to teach it in a fun with is always challenging. I have to always keep learning.
My new laptop allows me to do just that. It is up to date on all software, has a higher processer than my school computer, and allows me to watch videos for my professional development training. Something I wouldn't have been able to do with out your help.”

Funded May 3, 2022My students are so excited about the new books! The big shocker is that they are comics. When I had students pick a book for silent reading this week there were not any of them left to choose from. I had a waiting list on all science comic books. It made my heart happy!
You have not only been able to provide new books for my classroom library but you have also helped me put excitement after a long summer back into my students. Learning about topics that may not be as fun but are made fun but how the content is displayed.
Thank you!”

Funded Mar 17, 2022You have donated a love of learning to my students. With the new year starting, I was able to use the Science World subscription and share all the wonderful things we could learn this year. This would not have been possible without your donation.
Every day since I have used the magazines in class the students walk in and ask, "Mrs. Ricks, are we doing another Science World project?" I love to not only see how reading meaningful science-related topics but their eagerness to learn new things. This is something that all teachers strive for and you helped make that possible.
Thank you for encouraging a new group of scientists.”

Wonderful Worksheets!
Funded Apr 4, 2022Thank you so much for helping provide my class with worksheets that they can get excited about. I have already started to use them. With testing month here is it hard to start new topics and I have been introducing students to a number of them using the videos that go along with the worksheets that you helped me get.
It has not only been a life saver for me with testing going on but it has also been wonderful to see the students have questions about what they saw and engage with the worksheets that are in front of them.
You made that happen.
Thank you!”

Mrs. Ricks
Creating CPR Citizens
Funded Oct 23, 2021Thank you for your donation. Since you have donated to this project, you have given the gift of confidence to my students. The gift of knowledge that if something goes wrong they will have the skills to help and assist in the time of need. Because of you, you have been able to provide the practice equipment they needed to build this confidence. A confidence that will be put into action.
There has been times when knowing how to respond to a crisis is an important part of life. By you funding this project you have given that knowledge that my students will carry forever.”
