The students in my class have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. In order to effectively learn, they require daily sensory breaks to be able to gain the sensory input they need to stay alert, on task, and focused. I hope to set up an area in the classroom to allow students to reset, decompress, and get the blood flowing back into their brains.
With your kind donations, I will be able to achieve my goals to create an area in my classroom for children to refocus and recharge using the equipment provided. This will allow their growing brains to learn more effectively. The sensory area will provide sensory stimuli and gross motor development.
This area will also provide a few items to help calm my students that need that type of sensory input. A weighted blanket, noise cancelling headphones, and a beanbag will provide a place of quiet and calm. Thank you in advance for your generous considerations.
