Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work times my kindergarteners may choose a location in the classroom that they prefer. They rarely ever choose to sit at a desk! While I have a few scoop chairs in my classroom, I have found that more options would likely create a more collaborative and effective classroom. Some students need to rock when they concentrate, some need to stand, some need to bounce, and some need to feel something soft; providing them options will help keep them focused and engaged. My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of where to work. The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The wobble stools will allow students to sit at a desk but will still allow some movement. These will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to get the wiggles out. The bouncy bands will also help those students that need to move while learning. The additional stools with the soft tops can be used at small group tables or as an alternative seat for students who prefer them. I have seen how choice can positively affect my students work and demeanor and hope that the additional options will help us grow even more!
