Students that use these geometry kits will understand the differences between area, perimeter, volume, and surface area because of the visual representation these manipulatives provide. Kinesthetically, they will be able to construct two-dimensional and three-dimensional models. I plan on setting up stations, having students use the activity cards, and collaborate with other students to maximize their learning experience.
My students will be able to construct different-sized shapes, analyze their properties, and solve problems posed to them on the activity cards provided. Due to the different properties of the shapes in each kit, I believe students will be able to discriminate between when to find area, volume, surface area, and perimeter.
