Education is all about meeting students' needs and providing learning opportunities that benefit each student. There are multiple learning styles within my classroom: kinesthetic, auditory, visual, tactile, etc. My students are intuitive, reflective, and innovative and it is my goal as an educator to help propel and elevate their unique characteristics while excelling personally and academically. Introducing flexible seating into my classroom will provide my students with opportunities to practice choice, develop community, ensure comfort, encourage collaboration, stimulate sensory input, and satisfy a need for movement. I would like to introduce donut balls, balance balls, bean bags, and chair bands into my classroom. I believe these choices will give students an outlet for their energy and allow them to focus more easily on the tasks at hand. There is so much research behind the benefits and effectiveness of flexible seating. By removing traditional seating barriers, students will feel more comfortable in THEIR classroom. As a result students will have a more fluent and effective education that is student-centered and age appropriate.
