I teach Pre-Calculus Honors and AP Statistics - two rigorous courses. I have seen students take these classes with both scientific and graphing calculators. Students who have access to graphing calculators always move through the course with more ease and engage further in the course material. In an ideal world every student would have their own personal graphing calculator. Unfortunately, the higher price tag on graphing calculators makes it impossible for this ideal world to exist. This purpose of this grant is to allow all students an equal opportunity to succeed in my class, through access to graphing calculators. The model of graphing calculator I have chosen is the TI 83 Plus. My Pre-Calc students can use the full graphing features of the calculator to analyze and interpret graphs. AP Statistics students will use the calculators to gather and analyze data so they can draw conclusions. The courses I teach are rigorous and student success is improved by having the proper resources. With your help we are providing resources to support student success for years to come.
