  • Turn Up the Volume on Learning

    Funded Dec 29, 2022

Thank you for helping me fund "Turn up the volume on learning" project. I am thrilled that two schools will have what they need for music teaching! I appreciate your generosity at this time of belt-tightening and inflation.

My speaker was slowly dying, and now, there won't be any disruption in excellent sound when my students play recorder with accompaniment, prepare octavos, play online music games, or watch videos!

We will put these speakers to good use. I'll keep you posted on how they are impacting our rooms in the future.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Gonsalves

  • Soprano Metallophone

    Funded Sep 14, 2018

The metalophone has been in our classroom two years now, and it's still as beautiful as the moment it arrived. The instrument sound beautiful. It's long enough that two students can play at one time. I'm so blessed to have this instrument.

When it arrived, I had some students help me unwrap the bars. We put the instrument together then enjoyed the beautiful sound of the bars.

At the end of each year, we vacuum out the box, wash the bars, and stow the mallets so everything will be just right for September. This instrument is expected to last for generations.

    Thanks!

    Mrs. Gonsalves”

  • Quiet Please!

    Funded Sep 25, 2018

    Thank you!!!!!

My students really need these materials.

    You rock!

I will use them the moment they arrive. I will share them with the rooms near me as their children have heavy need. Your compassion and generosity just floor me. My kids are particularly sensitive to barometric pressure, so, as storms roll in this winter, know that my little ones are having a better day because of you.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Gonsalves

Our Orff orchestra needs more bass to support the instruments we are adding. We don't have enough Orff instruments for every child to have their own. In our disposable culture, it's a challenge for children to understand that instruments should last for generations. In my 3 years at Hyannis West, instilling personal responsibility for the materials has been a top priority. Students take pride in the good condition of the instruments. Our instruments look and function better now than they did when I arrived. Instruments are polished every spring and covered with hand-cut "blankets" after every use. Any new instruments will be well cared-for.
