  • 4th Grade Makeover

    Funded Jul 17, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donation. My students and their parents were overwhelmed by your gift and so thankful for the resources you have provided. Your donation helped me to transform my classroom into a space for Math, Science and Social Studies to be taught. Each day I marvel when I see my students "reading the room" in order to see what information or help they can get from the posters and resources you helped me purchase. Change can be hard, but thanks to you, some of the burden has been lifted.

In addition, one of the most important things I was able to provide this year for each and every student, was a set of headphones for every child. With Covid still a possibility, it is more and more important that I can provide all students with their own personal resources to keep them safe and help prevent the spread of germs. In addition, I was able to provide two sections of students with all the resources they will need throughout this school year. This means that each child has the same access to the same resources, and financial constraints will not be able to hold them back. Your kind gesture is appreciated by myself and every single fourth grader that walks through my door this year.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Quenzel

  • Operation Back to School!!!

    Funded Aug 7, 2022

Your generous donation to our fourth grade classroom is appreciated more than you know. When my students walked in to our classroom in September and saw everything they would need for the entire year already available to them, they were overjoyed. Their parents responded to my welcome letter explaining they would not need to purchase any supplies with both joy and gratitude. Several explained to me that it has been so difficult making ends meet with prices rising daily, but this gift would help them make sure their children had everything they would need for the year. This absolutely touched my heart and gave them a huge sense of relief.

We have done several projects already this year using these materials: artwork such as our Thanksgiving turkeys, science experiments like our xray hands and sugar shake experiment, and the creation of spooky narratives, which were all a huge hit. Next up, we are creating a class book on our school mascot, the shark. My students are excited to become "real" authors, which means they are excited to learn! All of these projects, which would not have been possible without your kind donation, help me to make learning fun and engaging for all students on a daily basis. Thank you for all you have done for my kids this year!

  • Under the Sea Book Nook

    Funded Sep 13, 2021

Thank you so much for your kind donation. My students were so excited to see our new comfy pillows and brand new rug arrive. Unfortunately, we have not yet been able to set up our book corner the way we would like due to covid restrictions, but we are all very excited for the day we can. I have attached a picture that will be the inspiration that I use to create our Under the Sea book nook. My little "Sharks" can't wait to snuggle up in the cozy environment you have helped to make possible.

Looking ahead, your kind donation will be used to create a comfortable safe place around our classroom library. This will be a place that will foster their imagination and encourage them to dive into a good book as often as possible. This will be an area that they can't wait to go to each and every day, an area where books come alive for our budding readers. This book nook will be the entrance to places such as Narnia, Oz, King Arthur's Court, and countless other extraordinary adventures that all begin with a good book. This will be where their love of reading begins, thanks to your generosity. Thank your for helping me to inspire the next generation with a good book!”

  • Fourth Grade Rocks!

    Funded Aug 13, 2021

Thank you so much for your generosity. This year my students are fortunate enough to have all of the resources they need to succeed at their disposal thanks to each and every one of you. When my students first arrived in September they could not believe all of the supplies they had available to them. It leveled the playing field and gave equal access and opportunity to each child, which is not always the case. The looks on their faces and the gratitude they displayed and continue to display each and every day makes it all worthwhile.

This year we have created Math and Language Arts journals to use as a resource to aid in their learning. We have also created countless art and STEM projects, ranging from building and racing gliders to creating wigwams using materials the Lenape would have used in New Jersey. Moving forward, we will be using circuit knowledge to build and light up gingerbread houses, which the kids are very excited about. None of this would be possible without you. We look forward to learning, creating, and experimenting with the resources you have given us. Thank you so very much!”

  • Supplying a Brave New School Year!

    Funded Sep 3, 2020

In this year of uncertainty, your generosity has made all the difference. Normally I have shared supplies that students can either keep at their desks or return to our supply closet when finished using. This year, Covid 19 has made this an impossibility. In order to keep my students, their families, and our staff safe, I found it necessary to supply each student with personal supplies that would be theirs to use and keep this school year. This made it possible for me to ensure that each and every one of my students would have all of the materials they needed to succeed during both hybrid and virtual instruction.

As you can imagine, in this time of financial uncertainty my students and their families were overjoyed and appreciated each and every resource they were given. When we transitioned to all virtual in November, it allowed me to send them home with the materials they would need to complete their assignments and participate in the lessons effectively. Virtual instruction is very stressful for students and their families; being able to take one worry away from an already difficult situation is an amazing gift made possible by you.

As we transition back to hybrid instruction this coming month, I look forward to using these supplies in a more one on one setting. Our first project will be completing posters of famous African American people of their choosing in history. Next, we will move into the study of our state, New Jersey. Students will again put these supplies to use to create a brochure encouraging tourists to visit our great state. My students thrive when given these types of assignments, which would have been very difficult to facilitate without your generous donations. On behalf of myself, my co-teachers, and my amazing fourth graders, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kind and generous donation. Your gift has allowed us to fight back against Covid 19 and provide our students with the educational opportunities they deserve and desperately need to combat the negative effects of this virus on our educational system.”

  • Supplying Learning in a Creative Atmosphere

    Funded Dec 29, 2018

I truly wish you could have been in my room the day I unveiled all of the supplies you purchased for our third grade classroom. I had given them a heads up that we received a Christmas gift from some very special people. I told them it would be there any day, but did not tell them anything about what we would be getting. On the day it came I opened everything up and displayed it on our small group table with a tablecloth on top of it so they could not see it. I topped it off with a big red bow. When they entered my room in the morning they could not stand the suspense. I made them wait until after breakfast before having them gather around the table and pull the cover off together. They were truly amazed and beaming from ear to ear. Many of these kids have never had a real Christmas, but thanks to your donation they finally were able to know what it feels like to be "a kid at Christmas". This moment was priceless and made my whole entire year, thanks to you!

As a result, I can not begin to thank you for your generosity this school year. As a first year teacher in a title one school with a limited supply budget, it is really difficult to give you students the resources they need for an entire school year. Your contribution funded every single project we did from February to the present. These projects included painting the Earth for Earth Day, designing a tile coaster for both mother's and father's day, countless directed drawing projects to pair with our writing pieces, their thank you cards to you, and design and create your Valentine mailbox. I have an incredibly artistic class; therefore, I love to incorporate art into most of my projects in every subject matter. It truly helps them to learn in a fun and engaging way.

None of this would have been possible without your assistance. You truly made our school year a success.

Moving forward I will be moving to a new building and possibly new grade level. I take with me the resources that you have so kindly given me, which we help me start the year ahead with everything I need to create those fun and engaging projects that my new students will enjoy. These are the lessons they remember most, because the projects made them fun as well as educational. I can not wait to see what the new year will bring. We truly thank you for making my first year of teaching and their third grade year a successful and memorable journey for all of us.”

  • Creating Effective 3rd Grade Learning Centers

    Funded Sep 26, 2018

I cannot thank you enough for the generous contribution you made to our classroom. As I mentioned in the project details, Holly Heights Elementary is a school that caters to primarily low-income families. As a first-year teacher, I had to supply all of the resources for my classroom. However, I was not financially able to provide Language Arts and Math games to make my centers more engaging. These games are so important because they help to solidify the skills and strategies we teach our students in a fun and engaging way. These resources are a staple in all Elementary classrooms. Thanks to you, my students have the same resources and advantages that their counterparts have throughout the building.

When I opened the boxes, I displayed everything so that it would be the first thing my students saw when they entered my classroom in the morning. As soon as they walked in, their eyes were so wide and they had a look of pure joy on their faces. The very first thing out of their mouths was, "When can we have centers and play with our new games?" The level of excitement in my room was through the roof, and still is every time I introduce a new game.

We have centers for Language Arts and Math every single day in the morning and afternoon. During this time, I introduce the games that they will be using, before having them play independently with their group. These games reinforce various skills and that I am teaching at any given moment, such as author's perspective, main idea, multiple meaning words, multiplication, division, etcetera. Kids learn by doing, and these games and activities allow them to put what they've been learning into practice which in turn solidifies their knowledge. They're learning in a fun and engaging setting, without even realizing that they are doing anything other than playing a game with her friends. These resources are an invaluable part of our classroom and necessary to the success of my students. I truly cannot thank you enough from the bottom of my heart for the kindness you have shown myself and my students.

In the future I will be creating two new projects. The first project will be to fund a simple supply refresh for our classroom. My students have gone through the supplies both I and their parents have provided in record time. I have replaced some of the items out of my own pocket, but in order to make it to the end of the year I will have to call on the kindness of generous people such as yourselves to help me restock our classroom supplies. The second project, which I will create at the end of the year, is to help me create a classroom with more flexible seating options. As a teacher of students with numerous disabilities and various learning styles, having the option of where to sit and how to learn best for them sometimes makes all the difference. Things like wobble chairs, bean bags, podiums, yoga balls, Etc allow students to work in a location that best meets their needs without distracting their peers. These items can be very expensive and would never be possible with the meager budget provided by our district annually.

Please keep an eye out for my future projects, and thank you once again for your generosity and support. It has made a world of difference to myself and my students. It has allowed them to learn in an engaging way that Fosters success. You have given us a gift that we will all remember for a lifetime.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Quenzel

Hello. Thank you for considering my project. I am a first-year teacher in a brand new third grade classroom in Millville, NJ. Due to the increased number of incoming third graders, the school had to add another classroom. This, coupled with the fact that it is my first year teaching and this is a Title 1 school, means that I need absolutely everything to turn an empty classroom into a fun and engaging learning environment that will motivate my students and help them achieve their goals. We need Reading & Writing Skills Folder Game Libraries, Math in a Flash! Discovery Cans, Fraction Tiles and other materials. A Title I school is a school that serves an impoverished district. As a result, my budget is nonexistent, and I do not have the capability to purchase everything I need out of my own pockets. I would love your help to provide the basic Math and Language Arts manipulatives and games needed to help keep my students engaged and solidify the difficult concepts they will be learning. Center work is the perfect way to do this, and the materials I have selected are the basic starter pack any 3rd grade teacher would need to help her students be successful. I hope you choose our project and appreciate your consideration with so many other worthwhile projects out there.
