The students are going to learn how to run a business within the school. They will have the opportunity to get orders, fill the orders, and deliver the orders. Not only will they be learning how to manage a business but also learning how to work together.
The students will work together in order to get the business to be effective and successful within the school. As a teacher who wants to give my students lessons that they will value as well as skills that they will be able to use once they leave high school, is my number one GOAL! With this coffee cart business, Our class, will start from the ground up! Starting with voting on a name of the business, learning about supplies, organizing materials, socializing with customers, understanding hygiene, learning about uniforms, following rules, kitchen skills, and money handling, we will be learning employable skills. These are just a few of the goals we can reach with this project! Our intention is to take this coffee cart, throughout the school during the morning hours and selling coffee and tea to faculty members. We will be able to understand the aspects of holding a real job by having this coffee cart!
As a Special Education teacher, I value and encourage real-life learning to students with disabilities.
Giving them the confidence to be independent and to be able to have a job within the community is what I strive for as their teacher. With this project, my students will be able to gain so many skills and values that one would use when they leave high school.
