Young students need a chance to move around the room and experience interactive lessons. Our literacy block is made up of centers. This way students’ attention is never lost and there is never a dull moment. One of the favorite centers in past years has been our listening center. At the listening center student have books read aloud to them and follow along with the text. This not only allows students to revisit the favorites they love so they learn each word of the story, but it also allows students to read and comprehend stories they are not yet able to read independently. Gaining early access to these more complex stories is key to creating life long literature lovers.
