  • Voice Lessons

    Funded May 3, 2011

I cannot thank you enough for your generous donation to my classroom. Discovering Voice: Voice Lessons for Middle and High School by Nancy Dean is already beginning to make an impact on my students. We use these books to learn about how our the words we use and choices we make impact the way we are perceived by others.

Furthermore, Discovering Voice: Voice Lessons for Middle and High School by Nancy Dean is helping my students develop their critical thinking skills. Students know that when they read a piece of literature, they should ask what the work is saying, how they know that, and how did they author make them feel a certain way.

My students are learning to control their diction and syntax, utilize figurative language, create detail and imagery. All of these skills will prepare them for college and help them in all of their classes throughout high school and beyond.

Without your help, my students would not have access to this incredible resource. Thank you so much for your thoughtful generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Prodromo

  • Flipping Out for Media Literacy!

    Funded Aug 30, 2010

You cannot imagine what wonderful experiences my students have had with the Flip Cameras that you so thoughtfully donated to them. Since we received them, my students have used them to conduct interviews with each other, create educational videos about the parts of speech for future students and demonstrate an impressive ability to synthesize information from complex literary texts.

The empowerment my students feel when they are able to use their voices, realize their own vision and demonstrate their understanding of multiple aspects of language arts might not have been possible without your generous contribution to the "Flipping Out for Media Literacy" project.

Thank you so much for making a profound difference in the lives of some very deserving, enthusiastic and proud young learners.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Prodromo
