  • Let's Go with Lego

    Funded Nov 18, 2024

This was an amazing experience for my students. They were able to work together to build a variety of Lego structures as teams. They worked together and followed the instructions in the instruction books. They were so proud of their creations.

After building structures and creating mini figs the students started to make stop motion movies. They were eager to learn about stop action and they were determined to see their vision come to life.

This project would not be possible without your support. Thank you so much for your generosity. My students learned so much from this experience. Now the only problem is we need more Legos for all the new ideas the students would like to create. Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Tadlock

  • 3D Printer for Urban Students

    Funded Dec 29, 2024

Wow! Thank you for providing the opportunity of learning how to use a 3D printer possible for my students. I am excited to work with them to learn more about this new technology (at least new to me and them). I look forward to seeing what they are able to create. Thank you again for making this opportunity possible.”

  • Eruption of Science

    Funded Oct 11, 2023

We are now volcano experts! We used the volcano model to learn about the parts of a volcano. We read nonfiction and fiction books about volcano. And of course we used the model to erupt our volcano model.

The students were very excited and made many connections to facts they had known about the Earth. The most exciting part of the unit was using the model to erupt our own volcano. We erupted the volcano three times and studied the direction of the lava flow. The students made great observations.

I am proud that the students learned and are able to use their new volcano vocabulary to describe what they saw happening. I am excited to see what these budding scientists are curious about next. Thank you again for your generous support!”

  • Social Emotional Books

    Funded May 14, 2022

Thank you! At my school we believe the best learning takes place when students are able to regulate their emotions. These books help students identify the emotion they are feeling and each book also gives some strategies to cope with difficult emotions.

I was able to use these social emotional books last year and will continue to use them this year. I have a new teacher teammate and I will also be able to share the books with her. My class loved it when we read these books together and I am looking forward to reading them to a new group of students.”

Thank you for helping to fund this project.

I am excited to shop for and buy extra resources to use with my 3rd grade students. My students have a variety of needs and this gift card will allow me to buy the resources needed to help them all grow. Thank you again.”

  • Up and Down with Pulley Sets

    Funded Mar 8, 2022

My students have been working on a forces and motion unit for science all marking period. These materials were a culminating activity of following directions and building. The students enjoyed the hands-on activity. They worked in groups to try to build a stationary bike and the materials lift. Both machines involve pulleys.

The directions for these activities were multi-step. It took the students several days to complete each project. The students were excited by their progress and learned a lot about pulleys and forces and motion using these kits. Thank you again for your contribution and helping to supply these materials to our classroom.”

  • Creative Creations

    Funded Dec 10, 2021

This is one of the trickiest donor thank you letters to write. Many of the items from my original project request were not able to be shipped. Donors Choose offered for me to substitute other items.

I was able to order succulent plants, a hydrometer to measure moisture in soil and grass seed for our plants unit in Science. I was also able to purchase rock painting kits for the end of the year. My students have not painted yet in art class this year, so painting these rocks will be very fun and exciting. I am excited to see my students creativity.

Our plants unit was a success. We were able to keep our plants alive and even take them home. The students researched the different needs of different plants. Thank you for making these things possible for my students. I love giving them the opportunity to be active, engaged learners.”

  • Who Would Win?

    Funded Dec 21, 2021

Thank you so much for putting these books in my students' hands! My students LOVE these books. We were able to read several of the titles in small groups.

We are focusing on marine life in science and reading. These books provide great illustrations and facts about marine animals. We have also learned about how authors organize the details in a text. These books are a fantastic example of the way an author can compare and contrast two or more different animals.

All of my students are interested in learning more. These books are especially interesting to my students who enjoy learning more about animals. Thank you again for your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Tadlock

Last year one of my grade level teammates was fortunate enough to have a flexible seating project funded and used it this past school year. Through this, I discovered the magic of movement while working on the highly demanding standards of today's schools. Students who used the wobble stools stayed more focused and produced better quality work. The stools were especially helpful during reading and writing lessons. In addition, students had to use problem-solving skills to share and figure out fair ways for all to get an opportunity to use the chairs. Having these stools in my classroom would allow my students to move while completing their work.
