  • Engage & Explore: Creating a Sensory-Friendly Classroom

    Funded Dec 7, 2024

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation of sensory items and social-emotional tools to my classroom. Your support has made a profound impact on our learning environment and the well-being of my students.

The sensory items you provided have been a game changer for many of my students. They offer them a way to self-regulate, focus, and engage more fully in their learning. The social-emotional tools have also equipped my students with essential skills to navigate their feelings and build positive relationships with their peers.

Thanks to your generosity, I have already seen improvements in classroom dynamics. Students are more engaged and better able to express themselves. This has created a more inclusive and supportive atmosphere where everyone can thrive.

Your kindness has not only enriched our classroom but has also inspired my students to understand the importance of giving back to others. We are truly grateful for your support and commitment to enhancing our educational experience.

Thank you once again for your thoughtful contribution. We look forward to sharing more successes with you as we continue to grow and learn together.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Galvin

  • "Zooming Up Time"

    Funded Jun 8, 2020

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your incredible support of my classroom. It has been a challenging year and the end of year gift brightened up students. Up until March 19, 2020 my students were "marching" steadily towards success and marking new achievements.

That "march" was to culminate in a "moving up" ceremony in June. Then Covid-19 struck and our trajectory was suddenly interrupted.

Reflecting back on the past year I am still struck by my students' determination to keep learning. They have faced many obstacles but have tried their best. Although they missed an in person "moving up" ceremony. They were so excited to receive the inspiring story of The Little Engine That Could . I wanted them to know that they must keep going and never give up. They also we're excited for their sunglasses (that brightened up their day ) and beach ball to enjoy over the summer.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Galvin

My students do not have much. So when I am able to introduce them to something new I love it. They are great kids who just need a break. With all the problems in there lives I like to feel like I'm there for them always whether it is in life, school, or sports.”

"Research has proven that mindfulness practice integrates the brain and strengthens the important executive functions that support emotional and social intelligence as well as academic success. Mindfulness is a natural way to set them on the right course not only now, but for the rest of their lives" Daniel J.Siegel M.D Many of my students struggle with stress, anxiety, poor self-regulation skills, poor self-awareness, and poor social skills. Help me give my students books to help them cultivate a mindfulness practice. These struggles can negatively impact learning, behavior, physical, and mental health. Mindfulness practice helps students learn how to pay attention to their bodies, feelings, and breaths which has shown an overall improved effect on academic performance I will use these mindfulness books to help my students to understand compassion, being present , emotions, and mindful breathing. The books will be placed in our peace corner where they can go and read quietly. In addition to mindfulness practices my students will learn about their brains. We will use the brain model to identify the different parts of the brain and what they do. I will teach my students weekly mindfulness lessons and incorporate practices throughout the day. These materials will be so beneficial for my students.
