Flexible seating will make a difference in my students' learning because it will allow them to focus for a longer period of time and will increase student achievement. It will increase student achievement because the students will not have only a hard chair to sit in, but may pick a wobble pad to use, so that they can move around in their seat. Or they sit on a padded stool, which they will probably think is cool because they are so used to the standard issued chairs and desks. Also, since we are in a small classroom it will be beneficial for them to be able to move around in their seats because I will have limited space on the floor for them to sit. The wobble pads and stools will also be used as an incentive for the kids to finish their assignments on time and promote good behavior. Since I will not have enough flexible seating at the beginning, the students who are showing appropriate behavior will be picked by their peers each day to sit in these "special" chairs for the day. This will promote a sense of ownership in the students' learning. Kids right now need to move around and not be limited in their seats, but with classroom size increasing this is hard for them. Lastly, my students in the last 5 years have a shorter attention span, which leads to poor academic achievement. Hopefully, this will help them achieve their best, like I know they can!
