As a firm believer in differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all my learners, my students have always participated in learning rotations where they will often find a spot on the carpet to sit and complete individual or cooperative grouping assignments. This past summer I attended two different conferences where flexible seating was a hot topic. While I wouldn't want to forego all of my seating as I believe that each child having their own personal space is important, the idea of comfortable seating caught my attention. While my students never complain about having to sit on the carpet, wouldn't it be amazing if they could sit on something comfortable instead?
