At the beginning of the school year my students had no clue how to use tablets, desktops and/or laptops. We are now in our sixth week of school and my kindergarten class is thriving with technology. They all want to use the tablet rather than the others. Right now, I only have three, so I use my behavior plan as to who uses them. These tablets are a great tool for maintaining a productive day of learning. If I had known how effective these tablets were going to be, I would have request 3 more. Thank you so much for this experience has been for both the students and myself. My student would have never had this experience.”

In our world of 21st Century Learning, technology is essential in teaching and learning. Children are practically born learning how to swipe. They are fully aware of social media and other websites that entertain. I would like to expose them to another facet of technology. My students will use these tablets to access the Code.org's Computer Science Foundations course. Through learning to code, my students will gain an understanding of how the programs and apps they use every day work. My students will learn the foundational skills that will encourage them to work as a team using logic, problem solving in all subject areas and to increase their ability to be creative. I am inspired and challenged and would love to introduce coding as a foundation in a possible career in computer science.
