One thing I've noticed while working with 10 and 11 year olds is that they are quickly surpassing me and my generation when it comes to technology. The students and the generation in school now are changing faster than apps can download onto a phone. As a teacher, it is essential and crucial that I adapt and grow with my students as I bring technology into the classroom. We use many different programs for math, science, and reading that allow my students to engage in hands-on activities that allow them to fully understand the material they are learning. I relate to my students through technology, and they use that technology in the classroom to keep their education growing and adapting in today's world. Classrooms are no longer pencil to paper. Classrooms are collaborative groups and the world wide web. Teaching my students to accelerate through the use of technology is how I keep them engaged, focused, and relatable.
