My students are growing up in a time of increasing desire for constant stimulation. Away from screen time, young minds look for something physical to get their jitters and fidgets out. Students want to stand up, walk around, tap, smack, kick, and yell when they are unable to sit and focus. Allowing them to make use of their bodies will allow them a sensory outlet to feel, wiggle, and push in their seat. The wobble cushions will be available at a group table for students to sit on if they want. The stools will also be at a different group and forces them to use more of their upper body to sit up straight. The bounce bands will be provided to students that need extra sensory needs during their seat work. The wobble stool will be available for students to choose during quiet reading time and for students that demonstrate a need for it in order to help them focus during work time. With these items in my classroom, students will fulfill sensory urges and find a comfortable seat for themselves without disturbing learning time for them or their peers.
