Students will use the handheld lens to examine the color, size and shape of the objects and will use the digital balance to help determine the exact mass of the object. The hot plate will be used to explore boiling and melting point and solubility of objects. An example of how the students will use the hot plate in our lab time is they will mix salt with water, boil the water to make it evaporate and see what is left over in their beaker. The selected materials will be used to help my students explore the physical properties of known and unknown objects.
