Funded May 8, 2024Thank you so much for contributing to this project. The students in our classes were able to read together talk about books and share their love of reading with each other.
For our book club we partnered with a fifth grade class for three days of reading, drawing and talking.During these three days students were able to meet each other, choose their books, read together, and finally celebrate with each other their friendship and love of learning.
The pre-K students then to take their materials home to share with their families and continue their reading journey with this new book, drawing materials, and note book. The fifth graders were able to learn a little bit about teaching and helped prepare our students for kindergarten just a little bit more.
Thank you so much for your support. We all had an amazing time reading, and learning together.”

Funded Dec 13, 2023With this amazing printer I have been able to help my students become authors and subsequently read the books that we have created.
We are seeing ourselves as authors, illustrators and publishers as we make decisions about the books we are creating in the classroom. The printer also has a copy feature that allows us to easily make multiple copies of books so we can take them home for practice reading.
It is so fulfilling to know that my students know from 4 years old that their stories are important and deserve to be read and with your generosity this is possible in pre-k.”

Printing the Stories of Our Lives
Funded Oct 21, 2021We love to create stories and share them in our class.
Thanks to your generous donations we are able to create stories with Playdoh, markers and crayons and subsequently share those stories with the document camera on our Smartboard for the whole class to see. This has been very motivating and it has helped us learn that even at five and six years old we have a lot of important stories to tell, and ideas to share.
We are learning how to listen to each other and speak loudly for our friends to hear. These are important skills that we are learning thanks to you and your donations.
We appreciate everything you have done to help our class.”

Seeing Ourselves in Books!
Funded Oct 18, 2021Thank you for the books you have added to the library in our classroom.
During our read aloud time we are now able to experience books that feature characters and authors that look like us. This is important because when we see ourselves in books we want to create stories about kids just like us. After reading "The Colors of Us" by Karen Katz we were inspired to create our own class book entitled "The Colors of Us", this is surely going to become a favorite book in our classroom library.
Thank you so much for your generous donations.”

Planting the Seeds of Learning!
Funded Jan 28, 2021In Pre-k we are learning about water, light, plants, babies, and transformations. With your seed kit donations my students were about to learn not only about one concept but how all the concepts fit together to create a plant that they can eventually eat.
The students were so excited when they received their seed with "baby plants inside". They planted their seeds and covered them with a blanket of soil and let them warm up in the sunshine. They gave them water to drink everyday and were so excited when they began to see little green shoots. My students watched as their plants grew taller and were able to compare their plants with their friends plants. As the leaves grew and changed we were able to talk about how just like people different plants grow at their own speed. My students were excited that they were help their plants to develop and grow.
On Friday the students took the plants home to their families and as they continue to give them water and sunshine the plants will begin to produce basil, beans or tomatoes that the families can eat.
Thank you so much for helping me give my students and their families this experience.”

Clean Air for a Healthy Year!
Funded Jan 12, 2021During this pandemic the 4 and 5 year old students in my classroom are not thinking about clean air, staying healthy, and keeping safe...but their teachers sure are. Our students are thinking about making friends, learning new skills and having fun in their first ever school experience. Your donation has allowed the teachers to have ways to keep their air germ free, so that they can spend more time creating fun engaging lessons that maximize creativity, socialization and fun.
We now have an air filter, materials to make masks, and products to sanitize the hard surfaces in our classroom.
These products have truly made a difference to the lives of the children who come here to learn everyday during a difficult time, and for that we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

Funded Sep 13, 2020Thank you so much for the materials to make our family books and for the warm blankets to keep us cozy and comfortable during rest time during the school day.
During this period of remote learning we were able to give each family a blank book. The families were able to work together with their learners to create books that featured each member of the family. Some students drew pictures and other students took photographs, all the books were unique to the students who authored them. Once students had completed their books they were invited to make a video of them reading the book to our class. This experience allowed us to get to know our families just a little bit better.
We had already begun using our blankets before the Covid-19 pandemic forced us to go remote and because of your generosity all students had a warm blanket to snuggle in during rest, in a time where our classroom is especially cold because of the windows being open for increased ventilation.
Next week when we return to school students will be invited to bring their family books along with them to provide them comfort and to share with the class in person.
Thank you so much for your donation and for bringing our Pre-k class a little closer together and for making our rest time a little cozier.”

Funded Aug 11, 2020Thank you so much for helping me give my students supplies for home learning in Pre-k. One of the most common requests that I got from families last year as we embarked on remote learning was basic materials such as paper, markers, pencils, math manipulatives and books. Your generous donations mean that every student in my class has the means to participate in remote learning every day...and they are participating! I have seen so much growth in my students over the past 2 month and it is because parents are not worried about where their supplies will come from, they can simply get to work. Thank-you so much for making a real difference in our lives.”
