If my project is fully funded it will allow me to make a safe and engaging learning environment for my students with Special Needs. These sensory toys and activities allow stimulating and engaging learning through play. Sensory play is proven by research to be an engaging and reliable way to motivate student learning and comprehension across all academic subject areas. PreK students need to have a variety of stimulating activities to make choices they prefer to promote learning. Preferential instead of forced choices encourage faster comprehension. The ability to provide these choices for my students with Special Needs is a dream come true. These materials will allow me to create different areas on the playground for the students to learn through purposeful play. The chalkboard can be attached to the fence and it along with the easel will create an outdoor area for creative expression! The sand area will not only provide sensory play but will provide an area for creativity and motor skills - using sand tools, trucks and dinosaurs! The water play area will also help with sensory needs and develop fine motor skills using squeeze droppers and cups and they can learn by watching how water moves. These additions to our outdoor play area will allow the children to use their imaginations and will give them an engaging area to explore, play and grow!!
