I enjoy using a variety of media and multiple art processes in the art room. Students need varied media in art to break up routine and to keep them motivated. A student who may not feel as confident in drawing or arts and crafts may have more success using their hands in a building and structural situation with clay. Building with clay helps students in a myriad of ways. It helps expand problem solving and enhances their sensory development and motor skills. I always feel that it’s not the end result of an art project but the process that went into the art making. Students at the elementary level need the opportunity to explore, experiment and manipulate. Clay gives them an excellent opportunity to do this.
