Our students completed an author study unit where they read many works by the same author. They examined the moves the author made to develop his or her craft to engage the readers. Next, they wrote Fan Fiction where they studied a certain section of a specific piece from a text and wrote a missing scene or chapter using the techniques the author would have used. This project will help our students to continue this work of studying an author and engaging with texts. They are eager to read new materials during our reading marathons and then share with their classmates their love of reading. These new books will add enjoyment and engagement to our classroom library.

About my class
