  • Critical Thinking Incentives

    Funded Mar 30, 2024

Thank you so much for your very generous donations towards this project. With your donations I was able to purchase a wide variety of incentives for my students including fidgets, snacks, water bottles, and more.

Students were excited to complete library challenges in order to earn points that could be spent on prizes. Some of those activities and challenges included writing book reviews within our library catalog, using the American Sign Language alphabet in order to decode the word "library," completing Rebus puzzles, and clearing their library accounts for the end of the school year.

We are all looking forward to even more challenges and prizes next year!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bailey

  • Riding Towards High School Literacy

    Funded Oct 12, 2021

Thank you so very much for your generous donations. My students were so excited to get these bikes in the library. I had several student volunteers eager to put them together & get them going.

Every day I have several students who ride while reading or working on schoolwork before, during, and after lunch. Some groups often set time limits among their friends so that everyone in their group gets the opportunity to ride while they are in the library. Staff members also enjoy riding the bikes during their planning periods or during lunch as they work on lesson plans.

Thank you again; I couldn't have done this without you!”

  • Flexible Seating For Social Distancing

    Funded Oct 1, 2020

Thank you so very much for your generous donations! Thanks to you, my students have access to several lap tables that they can use when they are sitting on the floor, on one of our comfy sofas or fun beanbags, or in our really awesome lounge chairs! In addition to allowing them to have a steady surface on which to work in these alternative seating choices, the lap desks also give my students the opportunity to socially distance more easily during these crazy times.

Thank you again for your donations & for your support!”

  • Imagination Station

    Funded Mar 7, 2020

Thank you very much for your generous donations. Because some of the requested materials were unavailable at the time of funding I substituted other items including other coloring materials and more puzzles/puzzle cubes. Although the project was fully funded only a week before our school was dismissed due to coronavirus, students DID get to see some of the materials for 1.5 days. They absolutely LOVED the puzzles and puzzle cubes, so much so that several were begging to be allowed to check them out so they could take them to class and home! I can't wait until everything gets back to "normal" so that they can have more opportunities to use the materials to explore their imaginations!”

    With gratitude,

  • Reading is FUNdamental

    Funded Mar 6, 2020

Thank you so much for your generous donations! My students and I are truly looking forward to adding these books to our library collection so that they can enjoy them for years to come. I am very thankful that we have so many donors who recognize the importance that books have in the lives of our students!”

  • Riding Towards Literacy

    Funded Oct 7, 2019

Thank you so very much for your generous donations towards our "Riding Towards Literacy" project! My students were so excited when they first saw the bikes and couldn't wait to try them out. The bikes are always in constant use by both students and teachers who want a way to read or work without having to sit still.

Our project even made it into the local news! The News 12 article and video segment are available at https://www.wrdw.com/content/news/Ride-and-Read-Middle-school-sees-spike-in-reading-after-bikes-are-added-to-library-566272901.html. There is also an article in the Edgefield Advertiser at http://www.edgefieldadvertiser.com/2019/12/spinning-in-the-stacks-j-e-ts-media-center-adds-exercise-bikes/.

This would not have been possible without donors like you who make an amazing, memorable, and positive impact on the lives of my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bailey

The library is a great space in which students can read or work on assignments. It is imperative that the library have plentiful and up-to-date resources, print, digital, or otherwise, to most effectively support student development.
