  • Simple Storage to Minimize Germs & Maximize Learning During COVID!

    Funded Oct 16, 2020

We want to express our gratitude for the generous donation made to our classroom. The storage units/cubbies actually arrived during the school day. The students were so excited to see them coming down the hall. They could barely contain their excitement as Mr. Hector assembled them in our classroom.

With efforts being made to allow us to continue attending school during this COVID Pandemic, it was more important than ever that students have the materials needed to ensure a quality learning experience, all while keeping cleanliness and sanitary measures in mind.

The students each have a cubby of their own to store their supplies, learning tools, readers, and Play-Doh. It is important to me that school be as "normal" as possible, but also as safe as possible. I am so grateful for the opportunity to walk into the school each day and do what I love . . . teach Kinders. Thank you again very much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Barclift

  • COVID Won't Stop Us From Learning!

    Funded Oct 5, 2020

I am incredibly thankful to you for funding our grant. The packages arrived over several days. As the secretary would buzz our room, the students were eager to see whose turn it would be to go collect our packages. The photos of them coming up the hall were precious!

We are enjoying our flexible seating. With the weather being somewhat uncooperative (keeping us inside more than usual), it has been helpful to have our wobble stools, ball chairs, and bouncy bands that allow us to fidget and move around while getting our work done.

Our school system allowed us to continue in-school instruction. With that, comes a few challenges and more of a focus on cleanliness and sanitation. Each child has their own personal Play-Doh. I also ordered a set of clipboards with a holder for the students. The colorful table spots keep the students' supplies inside their circle . . . to prevent using our friends' supplies and materials. So far, so good. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Barclift

  • Flexible Seating Is Fun, Fun, Fun for Everyone!

    Funded Aug 6, 2019

I want to thank you again for donating to my project! The students, as did I honestly, grew more and more excited with each box that was delivered to our classroom. I previously had two wobble stools in my writing center. Seeing how much the kids used and enjoyed them, I ordered one for each table. I hope to acquire more in the next year! I also had two exercise balls at my Playdoh & puzzle center. I noticed the kids really getting their bounces on; I know that increasing our core muscles is so important. That is why I wrote for four smaller ones to use at our tables. The kiddos just work while they are bouncing away!

New to our classroom are the super-cool writing desks and comfy chairs. The writing desks are utilized during literacy center time and writing time. I didn't realize how these desks would improve the posture of my students in the way they have. That was an added plus that I didn't expect. The two comfy chairs fold up pretty flat, so we are able to easily pull those out and store them as needed each day. The boys and girls absolutely love reading on the rug while chillin' in their comfy chairs with their reading buddies! Thank you again for your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

  • Writing techniques with PIZZAZZ!

    Funded Oct 17, 2016

Thank you so very much for funding my project for lots of cool new writing tools. The students were incredibly eager to see what all would be in the boxes; I had told them about some of the things we would be receiving. It was almost torture for the kiddos to wait for me to get all of the materials unpacked and prepared for them to use.

We received a wide variety of writing materials. The smaller dry erase boards are used at the student table families during morning free choice as well as other times during the day. The gel boards are strictly used at the teacher table as I want those to last; the kids think those are the neatest thing! It is so satisfying to see the students eager to write and participate in activities because they are so excited about using our new materials!

I also ordered a small lined dry erase board that the students can print one word, phrases, or short sentences on. One of the coolest items we received are the dry erase board paddles. The students write their answer and hide it. Then, all at once, they reveal their answers. They have really had fun with that. The nicest items we received were the individual dry erase MAGNETIC boards. These are sooooo versatile. One side is blank and the other side has lines just like lined paper. If I had only found these years ago! Wow! As you can tell, I am as excited about these writing materials as my students are! These materials have brought new life to my classroom and I am enjoying using these boards with my students.

I have been blessed to have several Sonic Limeades for Learning grants funded. I appreciate each and every one of them. I am sincerely grateful for your generosity. My students are as well! Have a blessed and prosperous year!”

  • Active Seating 4 Active Learners!

    Funded Oct 3, 2016

Thank you so very much for funding my project for alternative seating. The students tore open the boxes when they arrived at school. What was cute is that they had no idea what anything was. The balls & cushions had to be inflated and the bouncy bands looked strange to them. They could barely wait for my husband to get everything blown up so they could begin using the cool, new seating options. We have traditional chairs at our table families, so these new alternative-to-chairs options are even more enticing to my busy little students.

The wobble stools are used in our writing center as well as during free choice centers. The students also use them when we do learning relay games! The bouncy balls are used at our fine motor center. The kiddos got right on them and had no problem balancing. The wobbly cushions are used as one of our literacy center areas. The bouncy bands were placed on each chair at my teacher table. I really do see an improvement as far as keeping students' attention during my small group time. They are focusing their extra energy on bouncing those bands with their feet so their attention is on me and what we are doing in our group!

I have been blessed to have several Sonic Limeades for Learning grants funded. I appreciate each and every one of them. I am sincerely grateful for your generosity. My students are as well! Have a blessed and prosperous year!”

  • Math, Marvelous Math!!!

    Funded Sep 16, 2011

Thank you so very much for funding our proposal. Your

generosity has provided my students with materials to guide them on

their road to Mathematical success. We are having so much fun using these engaging Math Stations. They mesh perfectly with my Math-Their-Way Work Jobs! The weighing center has been so much fun as the students are able to use the cards easily and feel so independent! We use all of these at least 4 days a week! As a teacher, I am thrilled at the organization rack that came with the stations - they look so neat in our classroom! I am able to use these items

with future students as well! This is the only project I had funded out of 5, so it's really special to us! We're on our way to having a "Marvelous"

Math Center thanks to your help! I am proud to be a Verizon customer now more than ever! God Bless!”

  • Kindergartners Learning About Water!!!

    Funded Dec 10, 2009

Thank you so very much for the generosity you expressed to my Kindergarten students and myself this year by funding our water grant. I have been working for the past year or so to develop a quality Science Center for my students to explore that addresses a wide variety of topics and skills.

One theme we learn about is Sinking/Floating. The Sink or Float Discovery Kit you purchased greatly added to my students' experience. The objects were ones that were of interest to my boys and girls. We were able to experiment whole group and then the children enjoyed "experimenting" on their own. I used the Colors Science Tub with my Enrichment Group. I teach colors in-depth at the beginning of the school year and am anxious to incorporate this project at that time as well.

The two games: Fishing for Numbers and Fishing for Phonics were both big hits with my boys and girls. It was very easy to adapt these games to where they would work with various levels. We brought the games back out during our Ocean Unit and had lots of fun!

I used the above activities as I taught water conservation throughout the school year. We learned about our responsibility in preserving our waters and ways we use water and why it is important to take care of our water. Thank you again, so much, for the generous contributions and know we are so very grateful.

    God Bless!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Barclift

  • Help my Kindergarten Babies "Discover" Science!

    Funded Apr 15, 2009

My students and I would like to thank you all for the generous donation you made to our classroom. We appreciate you giving to our "cause", which was, notice the past-tense, a pitiful Science Center. With your donation, we are off to a great start!

With the Education Budget in the shape it is in, we are not purchasing supplemental items such as the Science Discovery Chest you provided for our classroom. So, we feel very fortunate to have been the recipients of this Chest - and, boy is it ever a "chest" of wonder!

You never know what sparks will ignite (not literally) in my children as they play, learn, and discover with these materials. We might have a future Scientist among us. Who knows!?!? I am so grateful to you for these items. It has had an impact on the interest level of my little boys and girls. Everything is new and shiny and unfamiliar to them; definitely peaked their interest. I hope you are having a Happy New Year. God Bless all of you.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Barclift

  • Science Should be Fun in Kindergarten!!!

    Funded Apr 26, 2009

This is just a small token of our appreciation for your generous donation to our classroom. It is an honor for complete strangers to purchase new items for us to use each day. I can assure you we are already receiving the benefits of having these materials in our spiffy new Science Center.

Science is all about discovery. With these science items, the kids have been able to do just that - explore and discover! Many of the activities require that I "get them going" first; but with some of them, the kids are off and running on their own. They feel so "big"! These materials go right along with some of my big science themes. It's nice to have such cool activities to supplement the themes.

Again, we absolutely appreciate your financial gift. Donors Choose has been a blessing to me and my students. Please know that you have made a difference! God Bless and take care!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Barclift

  • Classifying & Categorizing is COOL for Kindergarten!!!

    Funded Oct 2, 2009

I want to thank each of you for trusting me enough to purchase these wonderful products for myself and my students to use. These materials have had a positive effect in our classroom. The "Magnetic Vocabulary Classification Center" is very versatile in that it can be used with many units during the year. The Center is also great because students at all different levels can use and benefit from the activities.

At the beginning of the school year we can sort objects by color. The boys and girls are also introduced to the spelling of the color words with this activity. Another beginning of the year activity would be the shape sorting. The boys and girls sort every day objects under the correct shape. In the Spring we will wrap up our year-long study on the Seasons and the students are able to sort objects that belong with each Season. From March until May I do a huge unit on "Living Things". Our school has a "Farm Day" in March and visit the Zoo in April. We spend the last few weeks of school studying Ocean Animals. With one of the activities, the children sort animals based on their habitats.

The "Jumbo Letters, Counters, & Patterning" kits are better than I had expected! The pieces are a great size for my students to manipulate and they are very durable, to my surprise! We use the numbers when counting up the days in school and keeping up with the days in the month. As the school year progresses, we will use these items for more advanced skills. Thank you again for your generosity. Have a Blessed and Merry CHRISTmas!!!!

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Barclift
