This overnight trip to Clem Miller Environmental Education Center, located at the Point Reyes National Seashore, will be incredibly special to my students. They will be participating in rigorous and engaging lessons across various subjects including English, Math, History and Science. The trip will help students build and develop strong relationships with one another. Overnight trips such as these require students to work together and support one another in numerous ways. These strong relationships will help them succeed in school this school year and in years to come. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to get outside and learn about the environment and the impact climate change and pollution is having on the ecosystems that surround them in the bay area. For science class students will create a visual model that explores and examines the factors influencing local ecosystems. For English class, students will journal about their experience on our trip, using their writing as a method of reflection. For History class, students will read primary and secondary sources about the Miwok population that lived in Point Reyes, and create a project using visual information captured during our trip. For Math class, students will create our budget for meals while we are on the trip, and help to plan. This is a unique and rare opportunity that I hope to be able to give my students. We appreciate any and all support.
