Incredible THANKS for funding my first project through Donor's Choose in record time. I wasn't sure when I put all these books in my order how this would go. Thinking about the faces of my students when these books get placed in their hands pushed me on to create this project for them. These books will be used to engage students in small group reading circles. They will be shared with 4th, 5th, and 6th grade classes in my reading classroom. Students will think deeply and discuss various topics related to the text critically while answering and asking questions using evidence from the text to support their reasoning. Putting high interest and culturally relevant text in the hands of my students will increase their ability to comprehend and enjoy on grade level text. Guiding students to read at or above grade level is a crucial need for academic, as well as, personal success.
