Students tend to be nervous about painting at first, so we’ll start with a Bob Ross inspired lesson where we all create a quick landscape painting. After students experience a little success, we’ll look at various landscape painters, Then focus on Edward Hopper. Students will analyze Hopper’s work then they will sketch and finally paint “familiar landscapes”, places around home or school they see everyday but may not have noticed previously. Students will present their work and support others through peer critique and finally we will have a show in the library, where the ordinary will be shown as extraordinary.
