The big idea behind blended learning is creating a classroom that is based on students individual needs, allowing the teacher to take a role as a facilitator, promoting collaboration, and incorporate technology used everyday in the workforce. By structuring lessons so that they can be moved through at the pace the student needs it allows students to take ownership of their learning as well as helps the teacher give each student individually time to talk about misconceptions or elaborations on the subject. I noticed that all the resources made sure to emphasis that blended learning is not only online learning but it has to give the student some type of control over the pace or path at which the are learning. This is therefore giving the student a choice in their education. Blended learning allows the ability for students to get immediate feedback on their skills and then students are allowed to reflect and assess their skills. Not only are students receiving immediate feedback but so are teachers and parents. Parents are able to see what their student is learning, how they are doing on particular subjects in real time. Lastly, by transforming a classroom into a blended learning environment standards and abilities for students to learn technical skills. The technical skills that students learn in a blended classroom not only prepare them for college but also and most importantly prepare them for the workforce. Most jobs, if not all jobs use technology. Students need to learn and practice the skills of analyzing data, developing digital models and managing technology in an effective and efficient way. The Chromebooks provided for this project would be used in a Station Rotation Blended Learning model for subjects in science.
