  • Today, I Feel

    Funded Oct 11, 2022

Thank you for providing my students with valuable tools to be used daily during their self-expression time to help them be creative and express themselves better in written form, artistic form, and orally, Students enjoy the daily routine of talking and sharing their feelings every day with each other.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Montiel

  • I Am Ready To Go!

    Funded Aug 17, 2020

The project that I committed to has been very gratifying because it makes the students feel important and that raises their self esteem to new levels. They become vested in their own learning.

Students give them selves a sticker when they understand new skills, and can explain to others whaat they hav learned, also when they follow the norms of the classroom, in the class and on the yard. The zoom students from a distance also enjoy this application with the stickers.

The stickers helpd th students take care of themselves in the sense that they dont have to take care of others, judge others or tattle on them because everybody can evaluate themselves and reward themselves when they have been working , learning and being a good citizen.”

  • I Can Read!

    Funded Nov 10, 2021

Many people believe young children can't read, but I believe very young children can read and they do it in many different ways. They look at the illustrations, they point to the drawings, pictures, they verbalize what they see and finally they start point to the words and either make up their own stories based on the illustrations and little by little they start reading the text. That is what happened in my classroom. At the beginning of the school year, many of my students did "not know how to read" , but with exposure to many different types of books, they are becoming great readers and reading with enthusiasm. I just want to say thank you for making it possible for my students to want to read and keep reading even after reading time is over. I thank you and my students thank you.”

  • Let Me Share

    Funded Nov 10, 2021

Students are using their journals for writing and illustrating the stories they create on a daily basis. They especially like sharing the stories with their peers

Students were amazed they got their own journal because they were getting loose pages up to that moment. Now they know where to find their journal during writing time.

Not only are students becoming more responsible with their materials. but they are also more interested in writing and sharing their stories and for that, I am thankful.”

  • Equality, Diversity, and Justice

    Funded Feb 3, 2021

I never expected my project to be completed and in such short amount of time. I imagined my students reading these books at home, but as you can see they are reading them in class. They enjoyed reading about equality, diversity and justice since these are topics that always permeate in all societies, especially now. Thank you for bringing a smile to these students that are starting out in school with these literature rich books and colorful illustrations that lend themselves to literature discussions. Thje students thank you and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Montiel

Students will not only learn concepts of print, but also other subjects. For example, students will learn about equality, diversity, and justice. The books make for great learning of topics that are relevant in today's classrooms. Students need to be exposed to a wide range of literacy genres and topics. This will create a child that has a long range of vocabular to better express him or herself and can see different perspectives, not just his or her own. Having the books at home will give the child more time to explore the literture.
