  • The Key to Organization

    Funded Aug 11, 2020

I want to thank you for making a donation to our project, "The Key to Organization." This project was successfully brought to life with your help and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

My goal for this classroom project was to teach Kindergarten students the importance of organizing and sharing. Most importantly, I wanted students to use the materials I requested to grow independence and responsibility by accessing and maintaining school supplies for their table. However, after careful consideration and the safety of our children, I had to think of alternative ways to utilize the materials in my classroom.

I will use the rainbow storage cart to organize student copies/handouts by the subject and cohorts I will teach. As for the rainbow supply caddies and magazine holders, I will put a hold on the idea of using the bins for communal use. Even though each child is given their own supply caddies for the days they are present, as the cohorts swap, I want to minimize cross contamination among students. Thus, I will use it to hold materials I will need to teach throughout the day. And of course, the lamination sheets will be used for protecting sheets to make it more durable and easy to clean when in contact by students.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kim

  • Help Send a Personalized Gift to the Graduates of 2020!

    Funded Jun 12, 2020

I want to thank you for making a donation to our project "Help Send a Personalized Gift to the Graduates of 2020!" At first, I was hesitant to post this project because in the past, my project never got fully funded. But thank you to all my donors and Donors Choose, I can't believe how quickly the donations started to add up with the code LIFTOFF. With your help, I was able to get my project fully funded for the first time! As the packages started arriving, I was full of excitement to start crafting a small personalized gift for each of our graduates.

This project has helped me design a personalized graduation cap sticker with the premium permanent vinyl. The graduation cap has the word "Congratulations" and each of the child's names cut out. On the bottom of the graduation cap, I included "Class of 2020!" and "Love, Ms. Kim." Additionally, as planned, I was able to share a "Flat Ms. Kim" for students to go on adventures with me during the summer!

As I drove by each of our graduates' houses to deliver their personalized gifts, the smiles and excitement on each of my students' faces were priceless. They were so thankful that even during times like this, we were able to celebrate their success in elementary school. This would have just been a dream... But thank you for making my dream come to reality! Each of my students appreciates the gift we were able to create together!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kim

If this project gets fully funded, some of the resources that will help create a positive learning environment for my first class in my teaching career are further discussed. Included in the materials list are the heavy-duty small pocket charts, this will be a helpful tool to visually organize the students in small groups for Reading, Writing, and Math. The daily schedule chart is another great visual tool for assisting students in transitioning between periods throughout the day. The multicolored drawer will be labeled and organized with materials for students to access and independently practice the teaching point. Also, while I was student teaching and substitute teaching in elementary school I noticed that the classroom timer helps the students independently manage time to pace themselves and effectively complete their work. My goal is to create a classroom environment where my fifth-grade students will grow their independence in preparation for their future education and endeavors. I hope you will take my hand in creating a classroom of our dreams together. I really appreciate your time in getting to know me and my first step to becoming an educator of young children. Thank you for being the bridge for achieving teachers' dreams.
