  • Sweet Success in Science!

    Funded Dec 1, 2022

Thank you for helping make the science classroom more fun with a competitive edge. Your donation will provide the kiddos with an incentive and make things easier on me. I so appreciate your kindness in helping me make my classroom run efficiently as we meet our goals in junior high.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Jensen

  • Amazing Animal Adaptations!

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you for helping make science engaging for my students. These kiddos are bright, eager to learn and appreciate interactive science lessons. It is a pleasure to teach these students. I wouldn't be able to do the engaging lessons if it wasn't for caring, generous donors like you. Thank you for making science matter and my students a priority.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Jensen

This classroom project was brought to life by an Anonymous Classroom Supporter and 2 other donors.
  • Hands on Robotics... at school, at home, at Grandma's !

    Funded Sep 16, 2020

This will be a great experience for my students. It was decided to let the students check out the robots immediately and explore the robots at home. In the container with the robots will be task cards and directions. Our face time at school is only 38 minutes per class, which doesn't allow for very much time for them to understand what the robots can do. Having them at home will give them time and their families can interact with them as well. Thanks for making this happen for our students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Jensen

This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose 20th Anniversary Fund and 18 other donors.
  • Keeping Kids Healthy at School...Part 2

    Funded Aug 11, 2020

This is awesome. Thank you for helping us to keep safe and allowing our science lessons to run smoothly. Now, during this pandemic, each student will have clean, individual materials needed to complete science activities without the worry of cross contamination. Thank you for your generosity. This project will be an important part in helping us safely start the new year.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Jensen

This classroom project was brought to life by UPS Foundation and one other donor.
  • Keeping Kids Healthy at School...Part 1

    Funded Aug 10, 2020

You made this happen! Thank you for your generosity during a very trying time. Having these dividers is such a relief as we try to keep the students distanced and safe in the classroom setting. As I'm sure most educators are anxious about the upcoming school year, having these dividers as another precaution will put the students as well as myself more at ease.”

  • Middle School Mindstorms...creativity and teamwork abound

    Funded Oct 22, 2018

The students were excited to know they would be able to create a Lego Mindstorm and have it complete various tasks.

We started with having them instruct the Mindstorm, with a pencil attached, make circle, a square and a rectangle. The most challenging for them was the rectangle.

The students were instructed to direct the Mindstorm to complete small tasks, but most were not able to get them to perform perfectly.

The last objective the students were given was to have the Mindstorm complete a path on the floor with turns and circles. They had a week to work on this and still had problems. One team would seem to excel for a moment, then something would go wrong.

I teach summer school so the kids asked if they could come in and work on it while I'm teaching. Anytime they show enthusiasm for something I'm all in. So this will be the project for the summer.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Jensen

By donating to this project students, from various backgrounds, will be provided with opportunities to explore coding, robotics, electricity and complete tasks with a purpose. In our classroom you would not only see kids working like bees, but collaborating and communicating as they try to meet their goals. This project is focusing on the use of Lego Mindstorms to tap into their collaboration skills, creativity and resourcefulness. We will be forming a new Lego Mindstorm team. The core group will consist of 10 middle schoolers and an additional 7 to make the team. The plan is to also expose all middle schoolers to Lego Mindstorms sometime during the year, so this will not be limited to just the team. I feel all students would benefit from any interaction with the Mindstorms even if they are not part of the competing team.
