I have collected a list of books over the past year that I have wanted to purchase for my students to enhance social-emotional learning while integrating it into other areas of learning. These books would be perfect for this year. I know we will be doing a lot of mindfulness practice and focusing on how to reduce anxiety during a time that is so uncertain. The books have an SEL theme, but they are also wonderful stories that I plan on using during shared reading and writing. By using these books, I will be able to center on lots of discussions about emotions and feelings while teaching essential reading and writing strategies. These books will be perfect for whatever format in which I am teaching (remote or in person). The characters, problems, and settings are relevant to my age group. Many of the titles can also be integrated into a STEM focus as well.
