Thank you for your donation and supporting my classroom. I am excited to be able to use these new hand on learning materials with my students this coming year. I know my third graders will love this project. Students will need some fun through out their day with all the changes happening right now. Thank you again.”

  • The More You Read the More You Know!

    Funded Aug 22, 2018

Thank you so much for your donation towards my project. I was able to get a lot of new mystery books for my new mystery unit this school year. My students have loved this mystery unit. We have read so many different types of mysteries and were able to learn many different aspects of mystery books. By having these new books my students had a wide range of mystery books to read. In my classroom we have been reading these books for the past month and the students get so upset when it is time to stop reading. My students are even completing a case file mystery book report. It was nice for student to have so many choices for this project. Thank again.”

  • Wiggle While You Work!

    Funded Aug 22, 2018

Thank for your support for Wiggle While you work project. I have a very busy group of students this year and just regular chairs would not have helped them learn and grow. My students are learning what kind of a learning environment they need to learn and work at their best ability. The wiggle stools have helped my students be able to move their bodies while working. It is one of the top seating choices each day. All 18 of my students and even myself love to sit and work on the stools. My students have been able to move their bodies freely and still be able to stay focused and learn new material.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Callahan

The goal of this project is to meet the sensory needs of the children in my third grade classroom. These chairs are meant to let children work off energy while still attending to a lesson. Recent studies in the May 2013 NAEYC Journal have published findings that report young children have "neurological processes that help them organize information and respond to their environment. The way in which each child responds to this sensory information is related to sensory integration."(Lynch and Simpson 2004) I will use these chairs in my small group areas, so that students can wiggle a little without disturbing the other children in the group. Over the years that I have been teaching, students in my district are getting less activity outside and more screen time. I blend instruction with frequent brain breaks and use movement to stimulate their minds and bodies. However, students still need to stimulate their senses during lessons and the Wobble Chairs would help with that because the chairs need to stay balanced. Integrating these sensory tools into the classroom will make a big difference in their daily learning activities.
