Level Up Storytime
Funded Oct 3, 2023I would like to again express my sincerest gratitude for your donation funding our "Level Up Storytime" project! With these funds we were able to purchase the necessary equipment, a two tier standing desk and voice amplifier, to elevate Storytime sessions in the library.
This addition to our library has helped to ensure that students aren't missing out on details that provide more meaning to the story because all students have a clear view of the books we are reading together. The voice amplifier allows all students to clearly be able to hear the story as well.
I have noticed that not only are students more engaged and showing improved listening skills during read alouds, the changes we have been able to make with this new equipment have the added and unexpected benefit of improved behavior! Many of my students have shared that they much prefer our new Storytime set up over the previous and I have definitely noticed a positive impact in the level of student engagement!”

Lego Wall!
Funded Aug 10, 2023It is with gratitude and appreciation that I submit this impact letter to you for your kindness and willingness to give toward our Lego Wall project! With the materials that were donated, we were able to build a large Lego Wall in our library and acquire Legos for students to use.
When the Lego Wall was completed, it was so much fun to watch the student's faces light up with excitement and anticipation of exploring and creating in a new way! Students have been working together to come up with new ideas for their builds and collaborating to create them. They have built everything from a United States flag to imaginative original characters, to a 3D garage and the car it housed! Currently, a plan to create a collaborative art piece across grade levels is in the works!
Again, thank you for your generous donation. The Lego Wall is such a positive addition to our library and makerspace! It has challenged and engaged our students, and we are excited to discover more ways to use this amazing new resource!”

This classroom project was brought to life by The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and 9 other donors.Mini Makerspace
Funded Mar 9, 2016The library's Makerspace is a hit with our students! Our students are even more excited and eager to visit the library knowing that the Makerspace is up and running. It is wonderful to see how they have taken to these items and used them in engaging and creative ways. Not only have they been able to utilize them creatively, I have also seen them grow in their capabilities to problem solve and work together.
Students have been learning about electronic circuitry through exploration of our Little Bits kits. It's so rewarding to watch students work in a cooperative environment to explore electronics. One of my favorite things is observing a group of students problem solve and tweak their circuitry experiments until they "get it"! Witnessing their excitement when an experiment "works" is a delight.
The iPad Mini and OSMO gaming system are a huge hit in the Makerspace as well! I love that OSMO engages all my students from grades K-5! It is one of the most requested centers in our Makerspace! Students love to work together to solve the tangram puzzles, they challenge one another while brushing up on skills with the Letters and Number games, and let their creative juices flow with Masterpiece. We have also used our iPad Mini as a stand alone Mini Makerspace center. Students are using a variety of Apps/websites such as code.org and Chatterpix Kids to enhance tech skills and as creative outlets.
Again, thank you so very much for supporting our library Makerspace! We will continue to use the items from this project to grow our Makerspace into an innovative and inspirational component of our school community!”
