  • Graduating in Style

    Funded Mar 25, 2025

I can't find the words to tell you how grateful I am that you funded this project. This is my second year in 5th grade and I truly want to make it special for the kiddos and to show how proud of them I am for all their hard work. Thank you so much!”

  • Indoor Recess During the Winter

    Funded Dec 3, 2024

This year I have an amazing group of kiddos who are eager to come to school every day and visit the classroom to think, create, share, grow and of course, learn as much as they can!

Even with some of the hurdles that they face from day to day in this ever increasing virtual world, they are still eager to come to class and do the work. I've added all the materials to our classroom and the kiddos LOVED it! Each day I pick a book to read just for fun and then break them off into groups for brain breaks. This time has been a tremendous help with behavior issues as well, since it allows the kids time to socialize and work together on things that aren't academic.

These materials are so helpful in keeping the kiddos engaged and yearning to do more. They get so bogged down with school work or the constant test taking, that they lose sight of getting to have fun with their friends while at school. With the materials funded by donors like you, I've been able to reach so many of my kiddos that were ready to give up.

I am beyond amazed at what they created. Seeing them so involved wanting MORE, makes my heart smile. Thank you for helping me make it all possible.”

  • Tis' the Season for Being Crafty

    Funded Dec 3, 2024

It's the most wonderful time of the year! This week is hands down my favorite week every year. We spend the whole week focusing on texts that show how traditions are shared when cultures combine. The students create all sorts of crafts and ornaments using what they learn from the books we read about the holidays around the world. We tie every one of them to a book. It's such a fun, and exhausting, week. These ornaments were a huge hit. I loved letting the kids create their own ornaments. It was so fun to see all of the variations they came up with. They started with a blank paper and got to design several different types, then they chose the one they liked the best. They turned out great! They were so proud of all of their hard work.

The snowmen were probably their favorite part. I love being able to see them use their imaginations to create something unique. They get so excited when I tell them they can keep the whole bag of ornaments at the end.

Thank you so much for helping to fill our classroom with holiday magic!”

  • Prizes Galore in Our Dolphin Dollar Store!

    Funded Feb 14, 2025

What a wonderful treat to receive on Valentine's Day. Thank you for your generosity to my classroom. I have 26 kiddos that are going to be super excited to shop in the store using their dolphin dollars when they see all these wonderful things to select from. They work so hard and put so much effort into everything they do. Thank you for helping me to reward them for all they do. ❤️”

  • Experimenting in Science

    Funded Nov 6, 2024

Thank you again so much for bringing our project to life! WOW! I am genuinely blown away by your generosity and appreciate it more than I can put into words. Integrating STEM into other content areas is something I really enjoy doing, and with these materials, I have access to more resources that will allow me to continue doing that. The materials in this project allowed each of our 5th graders to create their own hands-on models to work with. Enabling the students to be engineers is a huge part of our curriculum. We don't show them what to do or how to do it, but simply give them supplies and set their brains loose! Thank you again for your generous support of my classroom”

  • Running as a Team!

    Funded Nov 7, 2024

Thank you so much for supporting this project! We spent a few of our Girls on the Run practices to make our tutus, and the girls are over the moon excited! They couldn't believe they got to make, wear and keep their tutus FOREVER!

When we first received the tulle and showed it to the girls, they couldn't believe how beautiful it was and wanted to get started right away on creating the tutus. The girls are done with their tutus and ready for the 5k! Thank you again for supporting this awesome group of girls!"”

  • Enhancing Our Reading and Language Skills with Audiobooks

    Funded Nov 8, 2024

Thank you so much for bringing our project to life! The Tonibox and characters have been a great addition to our classroom. I have several students on a variety of behavior plans and reward systems, and they love to earn time with the Tonie. Several students use it to help them calm down and regroup when they are dysregulated.

Many students in my room cannot read, so this gives them an alternative way to enjoy a book, which is another wonderful use for it. They are working on their wish list of characters they would like to have added to our collection. I know this will be helpful for so many students this year and for years to come.”

  • Wild Reading Adventures

    Funded Oct 3, 2024

Thank you again so much for funding this project! So far this year, we have read The Wild Robot, and now we've begun our adventure with the BFG! They bug me every day, wanting to know when we get to read because they want to know what happens next in the adventure. This is a beautiful story because it teaches about acceptance and being unique, a life lesson everyone needs to have. Next, we start The Wild Robot Escapes to see what Roz is up to on her adventures.

The class enjoys having the opportunity to read novels and hustle to get to the room so we have time to read. This is the first year I have used a class set of chapter books to read together, and I can't begin to tell you what a difference it makes. It has helped keep the students engaged and allows us to manipulate the text and mark where we find our answers. I am looking forward to being able to continue reading novels as a class for the years to come!”

I am so excited and eager to welcome 24 bright smiling faces into my classroom this fall. I teach 4th grade at a Title 1 school in Norfolk, VA. Many students in our school come from low-income households. This has many implications academically. It is my desire that my classroom is a place where ALL students come to feel loved and to have an equal opportunity to learn and grow. No matter the challenges they face, my students come to school wanting to succeed and I want to do everything I can to help them do just that!
