  • Reading Is FUNdamental!

    Funded Apr 16, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous donations to my classroom.

My students were so excited when all of their new reading materials came in and they were able to use them. The materials arrived in our classroom at the perfect time in the school year. My students were well into learning how to read, and they were reading their own books and fluency grids each day to practice their new skills.

The children were able to use the special pointers to make their independent practice more fun and exciting, and I was able to use the word mapping paddles and small group materials to provide explicit spelling and reading instruction to my small groups.

Your support most certainly provided a lot of extra excitement at the end of the school year, when we all needed some fun engaging activities!

I am excited to continue to use these wonderful materials with my new set of incoming Kindergarteners in September and beyond.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Bernstein

  • Coming to School Is Cool!

    Funded Feb 22, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donations to my project.

When I showed my students all of the amazing prizes they could earn for coming to school on time each day, their eyes lit up. They were so excited to begin getting punches on their punch cards and earn prizes for coming to school on time.

Even now, months later, they are still so very excited every time they earn a prize and get to choose from the prize bin.

Their parents have told me many times that their children have told them that they need to come to school on time to work toward their prize, which is exactly the response I was hoping for!

Thank you again for making this project a reality. We are all grateful!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Bernstein

  • Ready to Read!

    Funded Jan 23, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donation of books for our classroom library.

Most of my students came into my Kindergarten classroom not ready to read, and by mid year when they were ready to read emergent books, I realized that my library was lacking in these important books.

Thanks to your help I was able to provide my students with enough emergent reader books that they are able to practice their reading skills at school and at home.

We use these books every day- children choose books at their just right level and their interest, and practice pointing to each word and using their decoding skills to read the words in their books.

They love practicing reading and I love seeing how they have grown since the beginning of the year.

Thank you again for your support and allowing us to have the books we needed to practice these very important skills. We are so grateful.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Bernstein

  • What's In A Name?

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donation to my project.

Before using the name plate holders, my students' tables were cluttered with pencils, crayons, and name plates. Once we began using the name plate holders our tables became so much more efficient. Students are able to see their names clearly, which has helped tremendously with learning to spell and read their names.

We now also have a special place to hold their pencils, which has cut down on arguing over pencils, as well as pencils being dropped all over the floor.

We are very grateful for your support with this project! Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Bernstein

  • Help Us Get Headphones!

    Funded Feb 7, 2022

Thank you so much for helping our class get headphones!

Before your generosity, going to the computer lab would be very difficult. There were never enough headphones, and the ones that we could find rarely worked. Kids would argue over who got to use the headphones, and very little work was being done.

Going to the computer lab is now a breeze! The children each have their own pair of headphones that work every time!

We are all so grateful for your help, and appreciate you supporting this project.

My students now love using computers!”

  • Phonemic Awareness Fun!

    Funded Oct 1, 2021

Thank you so much for your kindness and help in funding my project.

These phonics materials have been such a great resource in my classroom. Because my students are reading 1-2 years below grade level I have been focusing a great deal on phonics instruction. In order to make this learning more exciting for my students I am trying to provide them with fun activities that will also help them learn. The flip books and touch and read boards have done just that. My students are so excited to use these supplies in class, and ask me to take them out on days that we are not using them.

I am watching their reading fluency and confidence grow by using these supplies.

Thank you again for your support! Your generosity has helped my students grow by leaps and bounds.”

  • Help Our Reading Soar!

    Funded Sep 23, 2021

Thank you so much for your generosity and help with funding my project.

This project helped me bring much needed lower level books into my classroom library. The pandemic and subsequent learning loss has been very hard on my students. They are reading 1-2 levels behind grade level, and I did not have enough books at these levels to support them. Thanks to your help my students now have lots of books at their reading levels to choose from in our classroom library. They enjoy book shopping each week because they do not have to read the same books over and over.

Thank you again for your help in funding this project. My students and I are very grateful and we think of your kindness whenever we read these books.”

  • Hands On Learning at Home

    Funded Oct 4, 2020

Thank you so much for your generous donations. My class is a remote only class, and basic school supplies are lacking in their homes. Because of your generosity I was able to purchase dry erase boards, markers, paper sleeves, as well as other materials to give to my students to use at home this school year.

Most of my children came with their parents to school to pick up their supplies, which allowed me to meet them for the first time in person!

My students are thrilled with their new supplies, and use them daily. Many of our daily activities would not be possible without these supplies, and we are all very grateful.

    Thank you again.”

  • Reading is Flexible (Seating!)

    Funded Dec 3, 2019

I cannot thank you enough for your generosity. My students are loving the flexible seating options we now have in our classroom. Each day during Readers' Workshop my students have the option to choose a special reading seat. They take their books and chair to a spot of their choosing and settle in to read. The kids are excited to have this new freedom, and having the ability to stretch out and read has actually resulted in a quieter classroom during this time.

My students were so surprised and excited to learn that people who don't even know them would send them these materials. There was lots of oohing and ahhhing as they watched me open up boxes. :)

We will continue to use these materials for independent reading time, and I hope to eventually acquire some lap desks and begin to use the seats for writing time as well.

    Thank you again!”

    Mrs. Bernstein
