The materials that I am requesting for my students will greatly impact the way that I am able to teach our Science lessons. It is my hope that with some added financial support, we can do some really amazing things this year! Our exciting volcano project and in- depth science kits will help reinforce the concepts that we will be learning throughout this year and hopefully "bring the science to life" for my students. The plaster paper requested is a very kid-friendly way to create our volcano project which incorporates both earth science and a study in base and acid properties. If we can receive this amount of material each student could create their own volcano to take home and reuse. I will supply the additional materials such as: the newspaper, masking tape, cardboard supports, plastic bottles, paint and paintbrushes. The science kits requested supply all the materials needed for my students to do hands on projects in force and motion and delve further into use of the scientific method. I am very eager to make learning as fun as possible for my third graders, and as we are on a very strict math and reading program, science is really the only way to branch out and do the little extras! I have struggled to buy as many materials as I can for my classroom, and as we are in a high poverty area many families are unable to help with donations. However, with your added support we could have a really amazing year for science in room thirteen! Thank you.
