Reading with our Eyes, Ears, and Hearts
Funded Aug 24, 2015There is no way to express my sincere gratitude for your generosity. My students are so interested in the story of Where The Red Fern Grows. They have done several activities with it. We use the reading guide and listen to it on the CD. We have talked about the difference in our cultures and Billy Coleman's. I have contacted the animal shelter to see if there was someone who could come in and speak with the kids about properly taking care of a dog. Hopefully I hear back from them soon. They are so engaged with this book and get excited to read. I have seen several of them write about it in their journal. Thank you so much for opening my students hearts for this classic favorite of mine.”

Class Set Of Books Keep Us Engaged
Funded Aug 22, 2014Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for your generosity. To see children love reading is an amazing feeling for me. This set of books has really inspired my class to pick up more books and read. The love of reading is something that can only be taught through good books that connect with the heart. It is obvious that the book Ragweed has connected with them. I have seen children read the whole series after I read them the first two books. Thank you again and Merry Christmas! You are such a blessing to our education programs!”

Mrs. Lewis

Funded Dec 29, 2010It is truly hard to find the words for what you have done for my children. The classroom resources in which we now share have impacted their lives already. We have been diving into Black History this month and the books about Jackie Robinson, Ruby Bridges, George Washington Carver, and Rosa Parks have helped them learn more about how they changed their culture for the better. They have enjoyed reading these books, listening to me read them, and responding in writing to them. I have even heard the statement, "Man, I wish I could have met Jackie, I would've played ball with him." They are truly making life connections and that is where the learning takes place.
Their excitement and level of conversations have helped inspire me to teach further into their culture and also aid in the understanding of where they come from for me. I have found that through the teaching of these books, I have learned as much as the children. They are asking deeper questions and their imaginations have blossomed. (ALL THANKS TO YOU)
Thank you again for what you have done...YOU ARE TRULY A BLESSING TO THE LIVES OF MY STUDENTS AND TO ME! Thank you and may you be blessed for what you have done!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Lewis
