I would love to be able to have a classroom library for my Spanish classes in order to support literacy for my students. I would like my students to have the ability to choose books that interest them during our Free Voluntary Reading time in class. I have chosen a great variety of books since each one of my students his or her own special interests. Not only would I love to have books of fiction such as Harry Potter, but also non-fiction such as "Who was Martin Luther King Jr" and "Who was Anne Frank?" This way, students will be learning about history in their second language which means that they will be acquiring Spanish at the same time. I have also chosen a magazine subscription of "Let's Find Out" which may capture the interest of students that are not yet ready to read a chapter book but who may be interested in the topics that various issues have to offer. I have intentionally selected a broad range of reading levels since many students will be more comfortable starting with easier books and others may want to challenge themselves. I would like my library to be naturally diverse in order to meet the needs of all my students. It is sincerely my hope to develop with my students not only a love for the Spanish language but also a love for reading which will stay with them for a lifetime.
