Listen While We Work
Funded Jan 13, 2020Thank you so much for your donation. My students loved their listening center. It quickly became one of the favorites during our reading center time. Students would ask almost daily if it was their turn at the listening center today.
Students loved being able to listen to books in a fun and relaxing way. The wireless headphones were one of my favorite parts. This allowed students to lay down, sit, stand, or walk while listening. It can be hard for a 5 year old to sit still and the wireless feature allowed them to move while still still being able to participate and enjoy the books. Many students told me that their favorite part was that the books included music with the story. That is something they can't get from a teacher read aloud. Most of the books had music or sound effects that went along with the story, helping to make it more engaging.
I love our listening center because it helps to expose students to literature and language in a fun and engaging way. Students are able to hear and experience new vocab words, as well as look at and experience books that are relevant to what we are learning in our content areas. Thank you again for helping me provide my students with a new and fun way to experience reading in the classroom.”

Reading and Learning
Funded Dec 3, 2019Thank you so much for your generous contributions to our classroom. The students have loved their new bookshelf and reading bags. They were so excited when they came in and saw the brand new shelf with all our books on it. They can now easily browse books and enjoy getting to select books to read throughout the day.
Their take home bags have been a huge help with homework. Prior to using these bags we were using ziplocs. It was difficult for their papers to fit and students would often tear the bags or lose items inside because they couldn't get the bags to close. Students were so proud the first day they got to take them home. They promised that they would take extra good care of them while they used them.”

Funded Aug 21, 2019Thank you so much for your generous gift to our classroom. The students have truly enjoyed getting to share the pen and become the teacher. We have used our rolling learning center for both language arts and math this year. It is truly helping us to become better readers and mathematicians.
In math we have used our learning center to help with writing numbers, building ten frames and writing simple addition sentences. Students were able to come up and help build our ten frame together as well as help in completing the number sentence that accompanies our ten frame. We are building some solid number sense skills early on, and your project is helping us to achieve that.
The rolling center is used daily for language arts. One side of our center holds our weekly poem that we used to build our concept of word. These poems are crucial to helping us become better readers and writers. We practice finding words, sentences, and letters. On the white board we practice building and writing sight words as well as writing and fixing sentences!
Thank you so much for your gift. You have helped us to grow and succeed as learners. Your generosity will not be forgotten.”
