Thank you so much for your support! I am confident that this project will reach many students in the years to come. As an educator I am committed to being a life long learner. I wish to foster that same love for learning in students and that would be impossible without literacy!”

  • Organization and Responsibility Are the Keys to Success

    Funded Jun 13, 2019

Once again thank you for your generous donations. Thanks to you all I have been able to maximize instruction time in my classroom. No longer do my students have to scramble to grab crayon, scissors or glue when needed for an activity. They are now able to to simply reach behind them to access supplies. Not only that, students are learning to how to be responsible and take care of their own materials. I have more room on my shelves for things other than books. The icing in the cake is the life that the vibrant color add to my room. I cannot thank you enough.”

  • Manipulatives Make Math Fun!

    Funded Jun 30, 2018

Thank you so much for your assistance in making a difference in the lives of little ones. My students and I were so excited to receive our new materials. They could not have come at a more perfect time. My initial thought for the manipulatives were to teach math, but they have been helpful for that, and so much more. I was able to successfully teach my students to count how many, using one to one correspondence. The manipulatives gave the students the opportunity to truly explore and understand each number. After the lesson students were able to work independently to match quantities to numbers .

In the photos students were learning prepositional phrases and were asked to place the bears on top of their heads, behind their backs etc. The students enjoyed this activity and were able to show mastery of prepositions. The manipulatives will definitely be used for our upcoming science unit of living and non-living. Thanks to you learning in our room is more fun!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Fuller

Manipulatives are a huge necessity in the classroom. This is especially true in primary grades. The use of counters become a part of our daily routine. Manipulatives can be used throughout the entire year, from the fundamentals of math such as counting and one-to-one correspondence, to more complex math skills, such as adding and subtracting. Having those tangible items make the concept of counting more engaging for students. Remembering the name of a number and what it looks like may be easy for students, being able to hold that number of items in their hands gives the number meaning. By donating to our project not only will you be helping to build a solid foundation for math, with counting skills, but possibly eliminating some of the struggles faced in more complex math skills, such as adding and subtracting.
