High school students tend to dislike math, so we need new and unique approaches to bringing the content to them. In a generation where students require more and more stimuli to engage them, technology tools help encourage the engagement of students. Creating practical examples of math situations with the requested interactive whiteboard, including using photos and videos from the community, will allow the students to modify and edit while trying to solve presented real-world challenges. Using the tools provided by an interactive whiteboard, students will work collaboratively to interact with each other and with students at a nearby school district that is interested in allowing math students to work across district lines. Funding this project will provide our school with the necessary tools to work with these other schools who already have suitable tools. Our neighboring district has the technology tools in place, but we need these items to bring students together at a common time and common forum. Considering the unique demographics of each district, we will have the ability to bring different types and levels of insight to students. Being able to share and to work with other students is dramatically unique from traditional teaching, so students have been shown to engage much deeper in these types of projects.
