Flexible Seating for the Classroom
Funded Jan 24, 2023My students have greatly enjoyed having options for different types of seating to use around the classroom. They love the wobbly stools and the cushion seat is always in high demand. It also have given me flexibility in supporting students who have the need to wiggly when at their seats.
The class was excited when the wobbly stools and cushion seat arrived in the classroom. We talked about how important it is to take turns and share our new seating options as not everyone will be able to utilize them each day. I am very proud of how caring and respectful they have been towards each other when using the flexible seating choices.
I thank each of you for contributing and helping my students to be their best selves!”

Calling ALL Readers!
Funded Oct 17, 2018Instilling a love reading to create life long readers is a passion for me. I am continually looking for books students are interested in to add to my classroom library. I dedicate time each day to read aloud to my students and choose books with care that reflect experiences and cultures my students come from. In our classroom, we talk about how each book we read is either a mirror (where you see yourself reflected) or a window (an opportunity to learn something new) for each us of. The conversations that have come from that reflection has been powerful for them and me. I have learned so much about who my students are and what they value.
Everyday, my students spend independent time reading books of their choice. Having a full and expansive library allows each one to find books that interest them and foster that love of reading. It also gives me the chance to have one-on-one conversations with my students about what they are reading. We sometimes focus on the mechanics of reading but more importantly talk about the connections they are making with the books they have chosen.
The books that were funded through my project have had a huge impact. I notice many students choosing to read those books and I firmly believe it is because of the diversity displayed in content and illustrations. I thank each of you for contributing as it has allowed our classroom to have rich literature for my students to connect with.”
