Plush Toys For Play Area
Funded Dec 12, 2024We thank you so much. The plush toys have made a significant, positive impact on both the students emotional and social development. The plush toys offer comfort and security, which is especially helpful for children with autism who sometimes feel overwhelmed by sensory input or social interactions. These toys are serving as soothing tools during transitions, calm down moments for times of stress.
Additionally, the plush toys encourage imaginative play and interaction, which is crucial for building social skills. My students with autism, at times find socializing challenging, these toys act as social bridges, helping to facilitate group play, role-playing activities, and shared experiences that nurture communication skills.
The presence of the plush toys have also fostered a sense of inclusion, as we used these during activities designed for emotional expression and cooperative learning. Some of my students have difficulty with verbal communication, the plush toys help them express themselves and feel understood in non-verbal ways.
Ultimately, the donation has enhanced the learning environment by adding a tactile, comforting element that promotes both emotional well-being and social interaction, contributing to an overall positive experience for the students.”

Therapeutic Corner
Funded Feb 12, 2020I really appreciate what you have done for my classroom. The students will all benefit from having an updated therapeutic center. This will allow for a calming corner for students to relax when overwhelmed with the days activities. Thank you for making our dream come true. We are so excited.”

Interactive Listening Center
Funded Nov 6, 2019My students and I truly appreciate your contribution to our classroom. This new addition of technology gives my students the access to visual images. The computer graphics interest students and grasp their attention. Many of my student are beginning readers so we are using an application that creates interactive displays and stories with text to speech narratives. It really helps my students to be able to hear and see the words that are being read aloud.
My students love the graphics and images that are displayed through the ipads. My students also enjoy the interactive learning games, because they have the opportunity to express what they have learned through these student centered activities. My students are enjoying the independence of the ipads, because they are able to choose the activity of their interest.
I have one student who loves the listening center so much, that when he finishes his work he will choose the listening center as his reward. It just melts my heart to see that the students want to learn now. We are so thankful.”

Funded Jan 6, 2019Thank you so much for contributing to my classrooms project and making learning a success. The technology that we received in the form of Amazon Tablets has really helped my students with their learning activities. Due to hyperactivity and fine motor difficulties, it is hard for many of my students to write or complete paper pencil activities. With the use of the technology (tablets) my students have been able to add and subtract simple numbers, sounding out letter sounds, and recognizing sight words with the interactive learning games.
My students love the interactive learning games that they are able to engage in with the use of the tablets. My students also love the alphabet mats that we received with the tubs of playdoh because they are able to learn how to write each letter of the alphabet by shaping it with the playdoh. My students also love the scent of the playdoh each colored playdoh is scented and non toxic, which is great for my students due to the sensory and safety issues.
I have one student who has become obsessed with the use of the tablets. I believe he loves the tablets so much because he is non verbal. With the use of the tablet he is able to type in what activity he chooses and explore many different resources through the Internet. He even uses the tablet to express himself to me, which is great because he is now communicating.”
