If They Listen; They Will Read...
Funded Feb 28, 2012My students' favorite part of the day is reading. I'd like to take all of the credit and say that it was me who gave them that zeal. But to be quite honest, they have that zeal now because of you! Your donation to my classroom was a huge blessing. My students love the wireless headphones They now have the opportunity to read with clarity. In recent, weeks I've been able to assess my students in reading fluency. In comparison to the beginning of the year a lot of my students increased their reading level by leaps and bounds. I asked one of my students who always struggled with decoding words why thought he did so much better with fluency. He said, "I heard some of the words on the story we read and I just remembered how it sounded. I remembered how the writer used the word in a sentence."
Even the students who aren't struggling as reader enjoy the headphones. Those student love to use just to listen to classical music while they read. The great thing is they don't have to be attached to a cord. The love being able to relax while reading.
Your investment into my classroom will stick with students for years to come. Thank you so much for caring. Thanks so much for donating, Thank you for making a difference. ”
With gratitude,
Mr. House
This classroom project was brought to life by Wayne Township Education Foundation and 2 other donors.Do Judge A Book By The Cover
Funded Aug 15, 2010Words can't express how thankful I am for your donation. At the beginning of the school year, I was worried that I was going to have an abundance of books with no place to put them. Now, it is the complete opposite. With these carts have plenty of places to put my books with room to spare! Before your donation students, would waste a lot of time going to the bookshelf to two or three at a time to check out books. I now have the ability to take bins of books and place them a group's table. That saves us a lot of time! Because there are so many bins. I am able to distribute the books evenly between bins that way students are cramming books into just a couple of small bins. The feature that I find most convenient is the sections to label the bins by levels. The students don't have to spend endless amounts of time looking through the bookshelf for their leveled book. They can go straight to the bookshelf and find their level of books. They even have the option of taking one bin back to their desk to look through all of the books in that section.
Once again, I thank you so much for your contribution in making these students lives greater!”
With gratitude,
Mr. House
