2024 MHS Academic Signing
Funded Mar 5, 2024Thank you so much for your support and for providing such fantastic resources! It's wonderful to hear that we had the largest group participate this past year, and that the materials helped encourage our students in their college and career choices. The appreciation on their faces when they received the goodie bags and saw the event decorations was truly heartwarming. As they move forward, they can take those items with them to use in their dorms or around campus, making their transition even more special. Your contributions have made a significant impact!
Here are a few ideas to enhance the experience for next year's participants:
We are consider adding hands-on workshops that align with the college and career resources. This could provide students with practical skills and knowledge they can apply right away. Inviting alumni or professionals in various fields to share their experiences and insights. This could inspire students and give them a clearer picture of what to expect in their future endeavors. As well as tailoring the contents of the goodie bags to reflect the interests of the students. This could include items related to specific majors or fields of study.”

Let Our Voices Be Heard.
Funded Jul 20, 2021Thank You for the Donation that helped us secure two ZBall throwable microphones. These portable microphones are great in the classroom because it helps student voices to be heard. The Zball is small and throwable which makes it great when we are playing games and discussing.
My current plan has changed due to COVID restrictions, where I will not have students throw the ball to each other. We are trying to cut down contact. I will use it in class to help students hear my voice better. This device will be useful for many years to come. Students have already been intrigued and have been asking if they can play with the microphone. I told them that when we are debate we will use the microphone. That way I can clean it properly before the next user.
The students who have the hardest time speaking in class may be comforted by using the Zball.”

Funded Apr 28, 2021The Senior Class of 2021 Malvern High School was greatly appreciative of the supplies that were awarded to all 60 of them that participated in the MHS Senior Signing Day celebration. Each senior was given a backpack filled with swag from their colleges, gift bags and cups from our teachers, and some life skill information for after high school.
The student did not know they were getting this large of gifts and were so happy and thankful for what we did for them. There were smiles and lots of happy seniors. It was bitter-sweet because this event is the first of many senior moments that they will have over the next two weeks.
The next step for these seniors is to go out into the academic or career world and make something of themselves. This gift was our encouragement that they can handle what the future holds.”

Funded May 28, 2020This year was a very different year. The Senior signing event was not able to take place due to health concerns. However, our district was able to use some items and other donated things to celebrate the Senior Class of 2020. We also made students feel special in our community and school by finding out of the box ways to celebrate them.
Many of the remaining supplies will be used for further Senior signing events when we are able to do that again. We could not do what we do for students without the support of you the donor and our wonderful community. Thank you for everything and for making our school great and special”

Funded Apr 11, 2019At first, I was afraid that we were not going to be able to hold this academic Signing Day event to celebrate our seniors of 2019. Because of your donation, we were not only able to hold the event, but we were able to provide gifts for each and every graduating senior. Your donation allowed us to purchase tumblers that we decorated with the colleges, military branches; we also filled the tumbler with candy from the teachers and staff.
The students were happy and sad at the same time. Having their classmates, staff, parents was bittersweet for them because of the fact that they are leaving. You would think that the tumblers were made of gold from their reaction and appreciation. They were very grateful.”

Connecting Readers to the World Inside the Book
Funded Sep 19, 2018On behalf of the Senior English classes at Malvern High School, I want to extend thanks for your donation. With your donation, we purchased a set of novels called Fahrenheit 451 to replace the novel 1984. These text had similar themes but the one I choose was much more relatable and accessible for the students.
We have focused this semester on the long-term effects of living in a technological world. We began by studying non-fiction articles and books on the subject. Then we moved into fiction novels. Many of the students connected that the events in the novel seemed like it will come true.
We began this book before our homecoming week and the students were engaged from the beginning. They were upset that characters were killed before they even had the chance to read more about her. I had many students who were reluctant to read in the first place; however as they got into the book that began to relate to the characters. This connection led to great classroom discussions about the future of their society.”

Leopards Academic Signing Day
Funded Mar 27, 2018My students LOVED their academic signing day this year. We used the money from the donors to make much better decorations in our large gym. College Reps were in attendance for the signing day. Then the students would sign their letter of intent and make their way to the fun photo booth and receive their gift bags.
When the students arrived at the gym, they were so happy with the decorations and all the people. The gift bags they received had like four different kinds of candy with notes written for each student. Some of the college reps. even brought items from the colleges to put in the gift bags. They were all smiles for the day.
We had many different decorations left over for the upcoming years. This is a tradition that we are continuing to do because this is more fun than graduation. Even our principal states that she loves this even more than any event. Most of the schools around us have adopted this senior signing celebration.”

Funded Apr 6, 2017Our College Signing day was a huge success thanks to the donations we received from DonorsChoose. Over half of our senior class participated this year. Our numbers have increased in one year!!!! We were able to provide a certificate for every student to sign. The decorations and signs were a great addition in order for parents are students to take some amazing photographs. The banner we created had all local colleges and military branching. This banner will be reused for this event in the coming years. Our school board even mentioned this event at our graduation ceremonies. Thank you so much for all that you do for our school and schools around the nation.”
