Pelicans Soar in Writing and Reading!
Funded Jul 18, 2022We are using these texts to help independent reading in our classroom. Although we have not fully done so yet, we plan to in the future. Our reading book shelf has helped be able to place certain books in our read to self center so we can give our students options to read during specific times of the years- such as holidays.
In my classroom, reading starts off with chunking, blending, and segmenting. Once they learn this we then move onto smaller books and then they grow throughout the year with their reading. Some of the items we have gotten donated have already helped most of my kids grow into small readers.
All of my students are enjoying the books, they can relate to them in a manner that normally they aren't able to. They also enjoy the writing material because they are able to help with spaces!”

Pelicans Soar to Excellence in Literacy!
Funded Sep 13, 2021My students and I are using the materials to help us by using them all in our literacy centers. We are helping them learn to read, and the want to understand the information. We are learning to read and spell and I am so happy and proud of all of my students!
My students have LOVED my materials and they have felt excited whenever we received them because they were books that were relatable to them.
I plan to continue helping them learn to read and help them understand the concepts we need to teach those reading strategies!”

Funded Mar 28, 2019We are beyond grateful for you to have fully funded our first project in our Pre-Kindergarten classroom. We received an I pad which had helped in our growth with Technology because it let our students who do not have their motor skills who rarely know how to use a computer mouse or the actual computer the access to the same information that we use on there. I have students who have been able to use the I pad to work on different items such as letters, letter sounds, numbers, and even reading! We also use the I pad to determine whether or not they are learning through our I station assessments! The students love having the extra technology and ask if they can use it daily.
My students have been having the most fun with the magnitiles. They are excited because they are able to make different things with the magnitiles and use their imagination to build. I constantly hear them talking about what they plan to build today and what they want to see whenever they are building. My paraprofessional has even talked with them about being a contractor and making only the things she says and she is amazed with their imagination as well. We are so excited to see more of our students imaginations with these.
Some of our students who have warmed up to our new technology are students who have struggled a lot with the actual computer during assessments. The beginning of the year I was moving the mouse for them, but then midyear I started to allow them to explore on the actual computer and noticed some of the scores went down. Once we received the I pad I put these specific students on the I pad for their assessments and they went up drastically! We are so excited to have the I pad and the other objects in our classroom today because they are learning so much from them! Thank you all so much for this opportunity!”
